We are quite excited about April 25 and we’re sure that you know why–Anupamaa’s prequel, Anupama: Namaste America is all set to release on this date on Disney+ Hotstar. It is the first time that an Indian daily soap will tell us about its backstory as a separate series on an OTT platform with the same star cast. Given that we are in love with Anupama already, we are quite curious to see how her life was 17 years ago. If Vanraj Shah was the same toxic husband to her or there was some petty excuse behind his unbecoming. Also, we wonder if her in-laws were always so inconsiderate about their bahu or it was Anupama’s doormat attitude that made them take her for granted. We have so many questions!
It seems that we have finally got some answers now. We got our hands on some unseen pics of the Anupamaa: Namaste America set and it reveals so much about its plot. Take a look:
The Desi Bahu Vibe
It took a lot of time and several episodes for Anupama to let go of her docile bahu avatar and take a stand for her self-respect. But, it seems that the prequel will take us back to the phase where she will act all meek and gullible. We really, really hope that we don’t have to see her as a punching bag in the upcoming series.
Don’t Be Toxic, Please Don’t Be Toxic Mr Shah!
Vanraj is one of the most toxic husbands of daily soaps ever and we have no two doubts about it. But, for one second, just for a sec, we want to give this man a benefit of the doubt and hear his side of the story as well. While nothing can justify his problematic behaviour towards his wife, we hope that he was not always so cruel.
Pratishtha, Parampara & Baa
In Anupamaa, we often hear Baa make problematic remarks on her bahu and later realise her mistakes. In her defence, while she loves her daughter-in-law, she wants to treat her the same way her saas treated her. Well, maybe we will get an insight into the traumas she faced that messed her up so bad. We can totes imagine Baa sitting on her swing in the living area and passing orders to her family members.
The Evolution
During one of the episodes, Vanraj broke down in front of his family and revealed that while he could never be a good husband, he was always a good father and son. Well, we agree. He worked hard to always support his family and respected them completely. These pics show that the Shah parivar had quite a humble background and a simple lifestyle. We would love to see how Vanraj became the successful businessman that he is today.
It seems that the plot of Anupamaa: Namaste America will revolve around the Shah family’s struggles and how their one decision changed their lives. The decision might have some connection with America and we wonder if it’s somehow related to Anuj Kapadia, who BTW, was in the USA back then.
We cannot wait for the secrets to spill!
