Every now and then we see people slut shaming others on social media and it is becoming TOO much. If a girl loves her body and wants to show it off, then what’s wrong with that? If a girl wants to post a picture in a bikini, then what’s wrong with that? If a girl wants to post a picture with lyrics from her favourite song, then WHAT’S WRONG WITH THAT?
Bengali actress Parno Mittra posted a picture of herself on Instagram and she was slut shamed by people for it. Why? Because the picture was a mid shot of herself and was captioned “I’m a bitch, I’m a lover, I’m a child, I’m a mother, I’m a sinner, I’m a saint, I do not feel ashamed, I’m your hell, I’m your dream, I’m nothing in between.” Which are a few lines from a Meredith Brooks song. Seems absurd, doesn’t it?

We live in a world where everything is out in the open. People have access to everything and anything.. And no we are not questioning anyone’s right to expression, but it seems like slut shaming has become a trend now and this we do feel very strongly about: people MUST stop it. We’ll go and watch porn in one corner of the room, but no, we cannot handle if a woman posts a picture of herself on her social media account – what the hell kind of thinking is this?

TBH, the picture was not offensive at all. Posting comments like “Will love to take u frm behind”, “Big Boobs”, etc., on the other hand were both offensive and unacceptable. Some of the comments have been removed now and now people are actually coming together in support of Parno by comments like: “If a man doesn’t show respect towards women then least to say that he deserves ain’t any respect either”.
We are glad that this is happening, but the slut shaming shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

Parno took a stand and gave it back to her slut shamers and we are so proud. She posted another picture which she captioned:
“Amazed to see the comments on my last picture. Does social media give right to a man/woman to blurt anything they feel like?? Hell yeah i am a woman and i have boobs and i have an ass. If u hv an issue then do not look at my pictures. U have the option to unfollow. It’s nice to see how sexually regressive our society still remains. May be eradication is the answer to this lack of education.”

We totally agree with her on this and we want to thank her for raising this issue, because it’s time we put a stop to such things.
