Wearing rip-offs and copies of designer couture has been the talk of the town in 2018 and popular digital vigilante, Diet Sabya, has done everything in its power to surface such fashion faux pas. But the sad part is that it is the celebrities who are getting caught in action the most, celebs who can very much afford to wear the original couture. We fail to examine why they are doing this but we sure know who is the most recent celebrity, or shall we say celebrity kid, to have worn a copy and later delete all the evidence of it after getting caught.
Veteran TV actress, Shweta Tiwari’s daughter Palak Tiwari is it!
Palak Tiwari, who could have been the new face of Prerna in Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 had she accepted the offer, wore a rip-off of Manish Malhotra’s custom-made lehenga for Janhvi Kapoor and ripped our hearts apart into a thousand little pieces.
As for what Palak wore, this multicoloured embroidered blue lehenga was by Soshai. Soshai is a label run by actress cum model cum designer, Sophiya Gupta. Palak had posted a picture in this lehenga on her Instagram captioning it, “I would’ve had more pics to share but we kept getting interrupted :(“, well, thank God for that! When we got to dig the dirt, we found that the picture was deleted not only from Palak’s account but also from the accounts of her stylist, Ruchira Jalan, as well as the label, Soshai by Sofi.

Here is what the original lehenga looks like – beautiful and colourful art embroidery done on an aqua blue lehenga – by the Kapoor’s fave designer and couturier Mr Malhotra.
The copy was done so precisely that is hard to spot the difference between the two looks. Except, of course, the embroidery on the lehengas which in Palak’s case looks like a cut and paste job, not detailed and defined at all like Janhvi’s.

As for the similarities, Palak’s blouse has a very similar sheer show going on and the dupatta, too, has the exact fringed hemline. Although, Janhvi’s dupatta looks softer than Palak’s organza dupatta.

Janhvi wore the lehenga to a family function last year with her late mother and the legendary actress, Sridevi, her younger sister Khushi, and Manish Malhotra.
