A strained relationship between India and Pakistan didn’t stop Pakistani pace bowler Hassan Ali and Dubai-based India Shamia Arzoo from settling down together.
The couple is all set to exchange the wedding vows in Dubai at Atlantis The Palm. Earlier this month, there were a lot of speculations around Hassan’s wedding. So much so that the cricketer took to Twitter to keep everyone updated. After the news of his wedding to Shamia came out a few weeks back, Hassan revealed on Twitter that the wedding wasn’t confirmed and the families were yet to meet. He wrote, “Just wanna clarify my wedding is not confirmed yet, our families have yet to meet and decide upon it. will make a public announcement very soon in sha allah. #gettingreadyforfamilymeetup.”
However, Hassan soon made an announcement to put an end to all speculations. “Our families wanted to keep this a low key affair but since the matter has come out in the media I have decided to make an official announcement to ensure there are no speculations surrounding my marriage,” Hassan said at a press conference in his hometown, Gujranwala, Pakistan.
“I will be wearing a black and red sherwani suit while she will be dressed in Indian style,” he added.
Wondering who the girl is? Well, all we can tell you about the bride at the moment is that she has a B.Tech (Aeronautical) degree from Manav Rachna University. Shamia is a flight engineer with Emirates and her family resides in New Delhi. This would-be husband and wife jodi is reminding us about Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik’s wedding. Can you imagine it has already been nine years?
Here’s how Sania congratulated dewar Hassan on his “last night as a bachelor”.
Hassan also shared a video from his mehendi function night on Instagram.
Reportedly, Hassan Ali also said that he will invite Indian cricketers to his wedding. “I will invite the Indian cricket team and players to come to my marriage ceremony, after all, we are all cricket mates,” Hassan told an Urdu publication.
“I would love it if some Indian players come to the ceremony in Dubai, it would be lovely. The contest is on the field and not off it. In the end, we are all professional cricketers and must share happiness.” he added. Well, the pictures from the wedding are yet to surface on the internet. We can only see all the Indian wedding guests once the pictures are out.
Here’s wishing the couple a happy married life!
