Sometimes beauty remedies can do more harm than good and using olive oil is one of them. Here’s why:

It Can Clog Your Pores

Olive oil is thick AF. So there is a high chance that it can clog your pores and lead to breakouts. The fatty acids prevalent in olive oil are actually the food source for the acne-causing bacteria! So, instead of using olive oil to lighten the scars, use niacinamide instead and watch your scars fade away.

It Can Cause Irritation

Just like any other skincare ingredient, olive oil can irritate your skin. It can also be really bad when used on infants’ skin and can increase their chances of eczema.

Doesn’t Have Cleansing Properties

While coconut oil is a great alternative for makeup remover, olive oil isn’t. It doesn’t have any anti-bacterial properties that other plant oils have. So instead of removing your makeup, it can worsen the situation on your skin and really clog pores, increasing chances of skin congestion and new breakouts.

And if you were using olive oil as an environment-friendly alternative for makeup remover wipes, using reusable products like microfiber towels and makeup gloves is a better option.

It Can Actually Make Your Skin Oilier

If you have acne-prone skin, then your skin is already producing high levels of sebum. So, using olive oil is only going to make matters worse. However, if you do wish to use an oil to fight off acne, then there’s no better choice than tree tea oil.

So, We Can We Not Use Olive Oil In Any Form?

No actually, you can!
