We are the land that gave the world Kamasutra but that doesn’t make it any easier for us to have an open conversation around the topic! That said, India’s relationship with sex is slowly evolving. For example, we have moved past depicting sex with birds and bees on-screen. We are slowly and steadily talking about sex without wrapping it in secrecy. But what about all the halla-bulla around pre-marital sex?
While it is not illegal, getting intimate or physical before marriage is still seen as taboo, or by some people, a crime. Directly or indirectly, we have often been told that it can only happen during our suhaag raat. How weird is that?! However, seems like the conversation around pre-marital sex has been going around for a while now and apparently, people in the 70s and 80s were more open about it!
Veteran actresses Zeenat Aman and Rekha are known as the epitome of beauty and grace. They are also known for not sticking to stereotypes and speaking their minds where required. A Reddit user recently shared an old magazine interview where the two actresses talk about sexuality and intimacy and honestly, it’s refreshing.
While we hardly see any new-age stars addressing such issues, it’s inspiring to see these veteran actresses being so honest and open about it. Even the netizens were mighty impressed:
