People treat stars as almost god-like figures who can do no wrong or cause any harm. So the moment they get in trouble with the law everything turns sour. Over the years, many popular stars have seen the insides of a prison cell or two. Recently, supermodel Gigi Hadid reportedly got arrested while vacationing in the Cayman Islands.
Well, Gigi is another name in the long list of celebs who got arrested. Scroll down to take a look:
Gigi Hadid
Gigi Hadid was arrested after Customs and Border Control agents discovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia in her luggage. She arrived in the Cayman Islands on a private jet from the United States on July 10, 2023, with her friend Leah Nicole McCarthy. The two appeared in Summary Court to plead guilty and received a $1,000 fine.
Fardeen Khan
In May 2002, Fardeen Khan was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). He was allegedly attempting to purchase one gram of cocaine. The case was dropped in 2012 and the No Entry actor was granted immunity after undergoing a de-addiction programme.
Sanjay Dutt
Sanjay Dutt was arrested under the TADA (Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act) and the Arms Act in April 1993. He was accused of being involved in serial bomb blasts in Mumbai that happened the same year. In 2006, the TADA court found him guilty under Arms Act. In July 2008, he was convicted and sentenced to a six-year jail term.
Saif Ali Khan
In February 2012, Saif Ali Khan was accused of assaulting a South African businessman and his father-in-law at a hotel in Mumbai. While he was arrested immediately, he was soon released on bail. The actor was booked under sections 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
Salman Khan
Salman Khan has had more run-ins with the law than any other Bollywood star. In April 2018, Salman spent two nights at the Jodhpur Central Jail for the blackbuck killing case of 1998. The Dabangg star has earlier spent a total of 18 days in jail in 1998, 2006 and 2007, in the same case.
That’s not all. In 2015, Mumbai court sentenced the actor to five years in jail for the 2002 hit-and-run case. He allegedly killed a man and injured others while driving under the influence.
Rhea Chakraborty
In November 2020, Rhea Chakraborty spent close to a month (28 days) in Byculla jail. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Rhea on charges of procuring drugs along with the late Sushant Singh Rajput.
Shah Rukh Khan
Believe it or not, in 1992 Shah Rukh Khan was arrested for threatening and hurling abuses at a journalist. The Chak De India star admitted to his mistake on David Letterman’s show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction. He said, “I got very angry and I called up the editor and I said, ‘You wrote this’. He said ‘But listen can you just take it… it’s just a joke. So I said, ‘I don’t find it funny”
SRK added, “So I went down to their office and misbehaved a lot. I went there and I shouted and I screamed and threatened to hit people.”
Just like all of us, celebs are humans too. As long as they learn from their mistakes, they deserve a second chance!
