Anushka’s Mehendi Wala Lehenga & Other Reasons To Love Sabyasachi’s New Collection

Anushka’s Mehendi Wala Lehenga & Other Reasons To Love Sabyasachi’s New Collection

Sabyasachi released his Spring-Summer 2018 collection, ‘An Endless Summer’, exclusively on Instagram last night and to say it was gorgeous will be an understatement. Fluorescent colours and floral patterns dominated the scene, however, the ‘au naturel’ make-up look is what stood out for us. Layers of foundation and airbrushed pictures take a back seat and colours dive straight into the outfits and jewellery. Taking to his Instagram, the designer described his collection as, “A ready-to-wear take on bridal couture. Effortless chic being the buzzword, the clothes are lighter, brighter, measured and sophisticated.”

While Sabyasachi is highly sought after by most brides for the deep hues and elaborate, royal outfits, this collection is a refreshing change from his usual style. Take a look at our favourite pieces. If you’re a 2018 bride, these are the looks you MUST bookmark!

Fuchsia pink and emerald green hand-embroidered crop top and lehenga layered with a diaphanous hand-printed organza dupatta.

Hand-embroidered ‘Indian purple’ raw silk lehenga-choli with a hand-printed chiffon dupatta. The ensemble is tied together with antique ‘tilla’ borders from Kashmir.

A ‘Cadmium yellow’ hand-embroidered silk lehenga with ‘tilla’ work detail is paired with an ‘Indian purple’ heritage Banarasi dupatta from the Benaras Revival collection. The strong colours are bridged by the iconic ivory textured raw silk ‘kanthi’ blouse.

Shikargah print organza sarees with beautiful old world blouses, heritage South Indian jewellery studded with Burmese rubies (from the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery Collection) and retro sunglasses for added quirk.

Talking about his new collection on his Insta page, Sabyasachi further added, “Post Anushka’s wedding, the new beauty trend is ‘au naturel’. Colour gets out of make-up completely and dives into clothes. An imperceptible flush on the cheek, glossy and glassy lips, mirrored sunnies, open hair and statement jewellery create the new look. Wear colour with confidence and mash it up with panache. A traditional Amritsari maang-tikka is the new accent as it sits pretty amidst cadmium yellow florals and turquoise silk.” You can check his jewellery collection Here
