Our trusty OTT platforms and feel-good shows have kept us some solid company during all the home time in the past year-and-a-half. Mindy Kaling’s Never Have I Ever has certainly been one of these comfort watches. The only problem with the show? It got over a tad too soon. Well, fret not because Season 2 is all set to drop sooner than you expected. In fact, Netflix just released the trailer. Yesss!
However, there is a catch–it might have gotten a tad too relatable this time around. We just watched the trailer and legit feel like Devi’s (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) pain is our pain and aren’t sure if that’s really a good thing. Actually, why don’t you decide? Here are five things that we noticed in the Never Have I Ever Season 2 trailer that are making us super anxious:
Confusion: Boys, Boys, Boys
While Devi might have struggled to get herself a “high school romance” in season 1, it is totally on this time around. But, there is a twist. Poor Devi is confused between two men and can’t decide who’s the one for her despite a detailed pro and cons list. Guess what she has decided to do consequently? Have two boyfriends until she makes up her mind! Well, anyone of us who has ever been there knows that it is not going to end well for her. God save Devi!
Aggression: Brown Mom Mania
So remember how Season 1 ended with Devi kissing Ben (Jaren Lewison)? Well, season 2 will start with Devi’s mom, Nalini (Poorna Jagannathan) catching them in the act. Now, as people who have had brown moms, we totally feel Devi! Later in the trailer, Devi declares, “My mom does not tell me how to live my life.” LOL, the world knows that’s kinda impossible especially with Devi’s helicopter mom.
Competition: Prettier Girls
While dealing with boy trouble, school, and pesky parents, the last thing we need is petty competition. Sadly, that too seems to be on the cards for Devi with the arrival of a new girl and as she says, “prettier” Indian classmate. Oh BTW, both of them might be eyeing the same guy. Yuppp, it’s gonna get reaaaallll messy this time.
Palpitation: All That Anxiety!!!!!!
All of what we just mentioned cannot really help someone who is already struggling with their mental health, right? Well, thank God that Devi is in therapy. Is she making any progress though? Her therapist sounds worried. We are worried.
Frustration: Balancing It All Together
Oh not to forget that Devi happens to be a straight-A student who is yet to figure out her choice of college and then a way of getting into it. Only God and Mindy Kaling knows how on Earth is she going to manage with all the drama that’s already happening in her life.
We feel ya girl, we feel ya!
