Your Favourite Netflix Characters Are Here To Serve Major Beauty Aesthetics For Inspo

Most of our favourite on-screen characters rub off on us in some way or the other. Sometimes — you find yourself channelling Phoebe from F.R.I.E.N.D.S in the weirdest of situations. “How would she have reacted to this?” you ponder. Other times — you think of Maddie from Euphoria before pulling off something bold. Maybe you’re feeling yourself at a party, and you wonder how Alexis would just let go and dance on Schitt’s Creek.

Well, not just mannerisms and quirks — I’m talking beauty. Think Euphoria, and how the show amassed an entire cult-following thanks to all the looks it modelled on each character — enter Instagrammers replicating glitter-laden eyes and gemstone-clustered eyebrows relentlessly. That’s why we’re putting together a list of every one of our favourite Netflix characters and their approach to beauty throughout the seasons. Ahead — the best.

5 Of Our Favourite TV Characters And Their Signature Beauty Moves

Katherine Pierce, The Vampire Diaries

Katherine Pierce might have impersonated Elena Gilbert effortlessly, as witnessed through the many episodes she spent trying to win Stefan Salvatore back — but her own aesthetic, independent of her doppelgänger, was nothing short of statement-making and sultry. Remember how half-up half-down ‘dos accented by a voluptuous cascade of ringlets were all the punctuation she needed in the 1800s? And how her ringlets unravelled into a halo of curls over time, and streaks of kohl, eyeshadow, and scarlet-red lips came into bloom on her face as she evolved into a 500-year-old vampire? Nothing but stunning.

Robin Scherbatsky, How I Met Your Mother

Robin championed minimalism throughout HIMYM — except when she sported a blonde hairdo complemented by conspicuous hair-bows like Robin Sparkles. Though her hair evolved slightly over the years, her makeup didn’t — washes of roseate on the cheek, pink lip-gloss, and thicker-than-ever dark eyebrows defined her look for all of the nine seasons. But, hey, we did not forget Robin Sparkle’s downfall, and Robin Daggers’ birth — totally fangirling over Scherbatsky’s emo Canadian alter-ego even now.

Phoebe Buffay, F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Phoebe’s hairstyles were top-tier — from modelling space buns with bangs to fashioning pigtails and bubble braids, she remained steadfast in her commitment to glamourise every look with a new ‘do. Though she’s not someone you can entrust your mane to (enter Monica’s nightmare of a haircut), she continues to serve inspiration to the beauty gals all over the globe.

Nicole, The Summer I Turned Pretty

The Summer I Turned Pretty is one show that is true to its name — everyone’s pretty gorgeous. While the show is centred around Belly’s glow-up, Nicole’s aesthetic isn’t lost upon us. Just like Phoebe, Nicole’s ‘dos are glamorous — from barrette-encrusted afros to box-braids, she’s always bringing her A-game to the floor — never faltering because the word ‘basic’ doesn’t exist in her dictionary at all. The cherry on top is her clean-girl, glazed-doughnut-like skin.

Erika Vu, Boo, B*tch

Boo, Bitch’s Erika transformed radically over the course of a few episodes. She evolved from an ostentatiously virtuous, goody two-shows to an absolute jerk — and it transformed her approach to beauty too. Notice how the show starts with Erika pursuing the coveted clean-girl aesthetic. Somewhere in between, splashes of blue and purple diffuse to her eyes and lips, and her tresses exhibit cool-girl ‘dos. By the show’s end, Erika’s back to being herself — as demonstrated by her cherry-red lips and slicked-back hairdo at prom.
