Tushar Hiranandani’s Saand Ki Aankh is all set to release next month. The film is based on real-life shooter sisters, Chandro Tomar and Prakashi Tomar, popularly known as, Shooter Dadi and Revolver Dadi respectively. The movie will see Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu playing the roles of the champion shooters.
Both, Tapasee and Bhumi, who are in their early 30s have undergone dramatic transformation through makeup to fit in the skin of the 60-something Tomar sisters.
After a Twitter user pointed out how senior actors like Shabana Azmi, Neena Gupta or Jaya Bachchan would have been a better choice for the role than Taapsee and Bhumi, national award-winner and celebrated TV-film actress Neena Gupta also voiced her agreement.
I love @bhumipednekar and @taapsee but I kinda wish older actors were cast in these roles. Could you imagine @Neenagupta001 and @AzmiShabana or Jaya Bachchan? #SaandKiAankh

Replying to the tweet, the Badhaai Ho! actress tweeted, “Yes, I was just thinking about this. Hamari umar ke role toe kamsekam humse kara lo bhai (At least cast us for the role that suit our age)”

Kangana Ranaut’s sister and spokesperson, Rangoli Chandel, also replied to Neena’s tweet and wrote that the makers had initially approached Kangana for the same role, but the Manikarnika actress turned down the offer and suggested the names of Neena Gupta and Ramya Krishnan.
Neena ji Kangana was offered this movie and she loved the true story of Grandmom’s achievements she suggested yours and Ramya Krishnan ma’am’s name for lead roles but these men can’t remove deeply rooted sexism from their filthy brains … https://t.co/f81LXDE5hg

We will never have a Meryl Streep in India if we keep shamelessly displaying older women phobia like this… shame on you all Bolly filth… for promoting sexism in the name of feminism …

Rangoli’s tweet may come out as curt, but it definitely makes sense, doesn’t it?
On the work front, Neena Gupta will next be seen in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. Her Badhaai Ho! co-stars Gajraj Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana will also be seen in the movie. Recently, the actress also registered a double victory at the Indian International Film Festival of Boston. She won the Best Actress award while her film The Last Color emerged victorious in Best Feature Film category.
