Steve Jobs once famously said that having a child is like having your heart running around outside your body. Any parent can testify to this statement fosho as there is nothing scarier than watching your child suffer. Recently, Nakuul Mehta and Jankee Parekh’ s son Sufi tested positive for COVID-19 and it took a massive toll on the couple.

In an interview, Nakuul and Jankee poured their hearts out and talked about how baby Sufi battled the illness. The Hostel Daze star was the first one to contract the illness and soon the entire family caught the deadly virus. Nakuul shared, “It was a crazy night. I was at home, on-call with her. She had started showing all symptoms, so her body had started breaking. He was very non-responsive, for someone who is very active”

Jankee added, “The scary part was that when he had 104 fever, I checked him, and he was burning with fever and not moving. Usually, a parent would feel that when a baby is feeling uncomfortable, he would get up and cry. But this baby was not moving. On the drive to the hospital, I was just tapping his face and calling his name.”

We can’t even imagine how tough things must have been for Jankee, Nakuul and their little munchkin. Thankfully, baby Sufi is getting better each day and he’ll be okay soon! In a recent Instagram post, Jankee shared, “Sufi is getting stronger by the day and is back to being his mischievous and inquisitive self. That’s the beauty about babies, right!! Their resilience and their ability to forget what they have gone through and continue with life like nothing ever happened … I wish I could possess that! For anyone who may need any kind of support, a pead. reference or just a conversation about the same, I am a DM away.”

We really hope Jankee and Nakuul’s COVID-19 experience encourages people to follow the necessary protocols and stay indoors as we face the third wave. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again—precaution is better than cure. Mask up and stay safe!
