I met my husband through our parents. We met a couple of times before saying yes, but most of those times, we would go out for coffee or dinners and ended the night pretty early. Many times, either my sister or his brother would accompany us or we would to sit at a table separately while our parents would be at the same restaurant.
Though, I have very liberal parents, his family was a bit strict about certain things. Rahul and I did make a connection even in those few moments that we shared. He was very open-minded and I felt that he wouldn’t be a typical dominating husband, and rather a friend and companion that I had been looking for.
He had studied abroad and had had a few girlfriends too. I had also told him a little about my ex boyfriend but not too much in detail. I thought it didn’t matter, and that instead of dwelling on the past, we should be talking about the future.
So, while we were busy building a relationship, it was bothering me that I hadn’t told him that I was not a virgin. My ex and I dated for a long time, but things didn’t work out between us. After meeting several boys after my break up, I finally felt that I was connecting with Rahul, and I didn’t want to lose that, thus I hadn’t said anything.
We got married in a small ceremony in my hometown, Agra. It happened really quickly after we said yes, and so, all that Rahul and I would usually speak about would be to do with planning of the wedding. We weren’t getting to spend much alone time and it was all about the wedding at that time. Everything went off well, and it was time for our first night, or suhagraat as they call it.
Rahul lived in Mumbai so we had hardly gone beyond kissing whenever we got the chance. We didn’t explore beyond and to be honest, It didn’t matter at that point, because we knew we had the rest of our lives to do that. We were both really looking forward to it though.
So, on the wedding night, we were really excited about the alone time we were finally getting – we jumped at each other. Eventually, we reached a point where we were ready to have sex and when we started is when he realised that I wasn’t a virgin. It wasn’t painful for me, and was in fact, very easy. At that point, he didn’t hesitate or stop. But after the session, he turned around and asked me if I had had sex before.
This is when I told him i was not a virgin. I didn’t want to lie to my husband. To this, he replied, ‘I thought I was your first, and all this while, I was so worried that you would get to know that I’d had sex before.’ We just embraced each other and said that it was incredible and the most amazing sex either of us has ever had. That’s when I realised my decision to marry him was a sound one.
