A couple of years back, I was diagnosed with a tumor and had to go through a surgery. After that I kept having health problems.
During my recovery stage I met Mihir, he was my senior in college. I was emotionally vulnerable those days and when he said that he liked me I also fell for him. He came as a ray of hope in my life which was all about medicines and doctors’ appointments. I was so happy and I had to share it with my childhood friend Gaurav.
Gaurav and I have been friends since our kindergarten, though he had moved to the US for job but our friendship was still as strong. Besides my family, he was one person who became my strength when I was fighting against my disease. We spoke every day and knew everything about what’s going on in each other’s life.
So, it was but natural that Gaurav was the first person to know about Mihir. “I am so happy you have found love,” he said and I knew he was genuinely happy for me.
Unfortunately, my relationship with Mihir didn’t last that long as it turned out that he was not so serious about me. All he saw was this vulnerable girl he could manipulate and take advantage of and that was what he actually did. And he left me a broken girl who lost all her confidence. I was broken and kept crying for days. I didn’t even tell Gaurav about what had happened. Every time we spoke on the phone I would lie to him that I was fine.

As days passed by, I got more depressed and I didn’t feel like talking to anyone, so I blocked all of my friends’ numbers, including Gaurav’s. I just wanted to stay away from everyone. Gaurav tried to get in touch with me but couldn’t. I had told my family that I didn’t want to talk to anyone.
After trying to get in touch for a couple of months, he got worried about me and flew down to India to check on me. The moment I saw him at my home I just broke down and told him what had happened. At first, he got furious at me for not telling him and going through such a terrible time alone. And then he told me that he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.
I hadn’t recovered from my last heartbreak and was taken aback by Gaurav’s confession. At that time I was in no state to get in another relationship and I told him that. I also told him about all the health issues I had and above all I could never have a baby. He held my hand and with tears in his eyes he said, “You fool, I have been in love with you since we were in 8th standard. I would look at you every day and wish you were mine. But you were one of the most popular girls in the school and I felt like you would never like a boy like me.”

I think I must be the luckiest girl in the whole world to have a guy like him, who has seen me at my worst and still wants to be with me. He knows everything about me and my past, and still loves me accepting all my flaws.
Once when my sister asked him why he loves me so much, he replied, “She is the strongest girl I have ever seen and a girl like her needs true love and I will show her what true love means. I want to make her happy all her life and I cannot think of my life without her. She is my strength.”
He has even spoken to his family about me and our families are talking about our marriage.
