Here on team POPxo beauty, we’re in the business of keeping an eye on the coolest and most attention-worthy makeup trends – and celebrities and their makeup artists are obviously some of the first places we look. Every week, we find ourselves hitting Instagram ‘save’ button as we scroll through our feeds of the rad makeup look we want to try.
And while we love an eclectic pop on the eyelids and blue-hued lashes, we’re pretty convinced that nothing can ever beat a dark and dramatic eye look. That said, if we gave out an award for an all-time greatest wearer of the kohl-rimmed eye, we’re pretty sure it would go to Mouni Roy. Case in point: her recent Instagram post proves the undeniable charm of kohl-rimmed eyes. Whether you’re heading for three different pujas, hosting a Diwali cards party at home, or catching up with your cousins over cocktails – this look will help you shine through the night. Ready to try the look on yourself? Follow these steps.
P.S: Excuse us while we ponder the classic vibe of this look.
Skin prep helps by creating a silky-smooth canvas for the rest of the products. Hydrate your skin with an uber-moisturising lotion. Next, apply a luminous primer on the high points of your face. Follow it with a thin layer of cream foundation on areas that need more coverage. Apply a brightening concealer under the eyes.
Use the spoolie end of a brow shaper to brush the eyebrows in place and use the pencil end to fill any sparse areas. Then, comb a brow gel through the hairs to hold them in place.
Smear an eyeshadow primer across your eyelids to endure your smokey eye stays put all night long. Then, with a flat shader brush, apply a matte brown eyeshadow all over the lids. Use the same shade on a crease brush to define the sockets and also along the lower lash line. Tight line your eyes with a black kohl-pencil and colour along your upper and lower water line. Then grab a liquid liner and use it to draw a thick eyeliner outline the upper and lower lash line. Finally, apply a coat of mascara on the top and bottom lashes or choose a voluminous pair of falsies.
Use a cream bronzer along your jawline, hairline and cheekbones for a more chiseled look. Make sure you blend it well. Set the makeup on the centre of your forehead, under the eyes, around the chin and nose using a translucent powder to keep it from creasing.
Apply a cream highlighter on cheeks and high points of the face, using your fingers to pat and press the product. Then, apply a rosy blush on the apple of your cheeks, blend it upwards towards the temple. Alternative, using luminous blush sheets will also do the trick.
She just nails it every time. Do you agree?
