When it comes to fashion, there are no limits. Nowadays fashion designers are going out of their way to make their creations unique and out-of-the-box. Since fashion trends keep changing every now and then, it is extremely difficult for designers to keep up. However, the bikini is one fashion item that has been in style for a very long time now. While a bikini may seem like the easiest fashion item to design, a few brands (especially Victoria’s Secret) have put in over 1000 man-hours making one! And these bikinis actually cost more than a luxury house! Yes, you heard that right.
Let’s take a look at these two pieces that are made of real gold and diamond, costing a fortune!
Hearts On Fire Diamond Fantasy Bikini
Imagine literally wearing 2,000 diamonds on your chest like it’s nothing. In 2006, Victoria’s Secret Angel Karolina Kurkova wore the Hearts on Fire Diamond Fantasy bikini that was created with over 2,000 smaller diamonds and a 10-carat diamond brooch in the centre. While the bikini top took 300 hours to design, the stones required over 20,000 hours of labour to flawlessly cut and polish. All in all, this two-piece literally took over 2 years to make and came with a price tag of $4.9 million!
Holiday Fantasy Bikini Set
If you think the normal Victoria’s Secret undergarments are costly, wait till you hear about this one! This Holiday Fantasy bikini set was worn by Caymanian model Selita Ebanks in 2007. Only the top of the bikini set is stitched with 9000 gemstones, including diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and yellow sapphires and it comes with a price tag of $4.5 million only!
Red Hot Fantasy Bikini
Did you know that there is a Guinness World Record for undergarments? Yes, we were just as shocked as you are. This Fantasy Bikini actually holds the record for being the most ornate and costliest undergarment ever created! This $11.5 million was worn by Giselle Bundchen in 2000. Although the two-piece was simply made with red satin it was the 1,300 precious stones that enormously boosted the price tag!
Royal Fantasy Bikini
We’ve often seen bodyguards protect precious jewellery items like a Queen’s crown or the Kohinoor. But did you know that two bodyguards were actually hired to guard a bikini top? It was for this Royal Fantasy bikini made in 2013 that featured over 4,200 precious jewels, including diamonds, rubies, and yellow sapphires, which were placed in 18K gold on the bikini top and belt. It also featured a 52-carat pear-shaped ruby as the centrepiece. Candice Swanepoel modelled this bikini and it is said that her team had to literally wear gloves when putting the $7.6 million undergarment on the model.
Susan Rosen Diamond Bikini
It may sound unbelievable but the world’s most expensive bikini set is also the tiniest that barely covers anything! Susan Rosen created this extravagant bikini for the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. It was made with 150 carats of flawless diamonds, all of which were set in platinum, making this bikini worth $23 million! The iconic piece was worn by the American model Molly Sims and damn, did she do a phenomenal job!
The Heavenly Star Bikini
The first-ever bikini that debuted on the runway was worth a mansion! In 2001, Heidi Klum walked the ramp in a bikini and became the first-ever model to do so. She wore The Heavenly Star bikini which was made with 1,200 Sri Lankan pink sapphires and a 90-carat emerald-cut diamond in the centre. It came with a price tag of $9.5 million!
The Sexy Splendor Fantasy Bikini
Gisele Bundchen once walked the ramp for Victoria’s Secret in a red bikini that may seem like the normal, sexy bikini we usually see. But its price will make you want to pass out. The Sexy Splendor Fantasy bikini set is worth $9.5 million! It was made with 2,900 pave-set diamonds and 22 rubies interlaced and set in 18-karat white gold. Not just that, it also featured a 101-carat Mouawad Splendour diamond as the centrepiece.
The Very Sexy Fantasy Bikini
In 2003, Victoria’s Secret caused quite a storm in the fashion world yet again, as they launched a bikini top worth $8.4 million! The legendary piece, which took 370 hours to be made, was adorned with 2,900 diamonds set in 10-karat white gold and included its own centrepiece, a 70-carat pear-shaped diamond.
Would you sell your kidneys and everything you own for a bikini?
