Everything You Need To Know For Your Monsoon Mane Troubles: Decoded

Hello, Monsoon! We are pleased to welcome you—said no one who cares about their hair. The official chai-pakoda season arrives following a long, sweltering summer. Oof. Monsoon refreshes us, makes us feel alive, and reduces our pain from the summer’s burning heat. However, this is also the season when your hair requires extra attention.

The true issue is overly humid weather, which is to be blamed for all of the hair damage, including breaking, frizz, and hair fall. Before you lose any more hair worrying about the monsoon-hair war, ahead, we have some practical monsoon hair care treatments to protect your crowning glory from rainy days.

Let’s Get Down To The Basics Of Caring For Your Mane Through The Monsoon

Champi, Please!

Do you remember how wonderful a hug makes you feel? Everything warm feels exactly the same way when it rains. Because of this, champis are always our favourites. Oil relieves damp, frizzy hair, which is a result of humidity, our good old frienemy! It also works well for dry scalp issues including dandruff and itching.

Apply warm coconut or olive oil to your scalp at least an hour before washing your hair to get as much benefits from it. The end result is that your hair will remain smooth, glossy, and frizz-free throughout the day.

Dry Your Hair

It’s like inviting a cold by not drying your hair when it’s damp. During the monsoons, bacteria and scalp diseases spread swiftly. You can either let your hair dry naturally after a shower or use a blow dryer on the lowest heat setting to dry your hair, after towel drying or air drying it for a bit. Wrap your hair in a microfibre head wrap/towel. Believe me.

Condition The Frizzy Mane

Conditioning replenishes the moisture in your hair that has been lost due to weather, dirt, and regular washing. It inhibits dryness, which is a major source of flaking skin and frizz. Hence, use a silicone-free conditioner to tame the frizz. This will leave your hair soft, smooth and gorgeous. You can also prepare your own conditioner by blending mayonnaise, egg white, and honey. Mix all of the ingredients and apply on your strands. Leave the mask on for 10 minutes before rinsing it with water.

Braids To Your Rescue

Before venturing out, always wear your hair in a loose braid or a bun to keep it from getting wet. This will also prevent frizz and rule out any other hair and scalp issues, such as itching and bacterial accumulation on the scalp, that may occur if rainwater is frequently deposited on your hair.

Say No To Hairbrushes

This is where things get tricky: you CANNOT comb wet hair! Excessively brushing your hair causes tension that is exceptionally hard for your hair to handle! Over-brushing causes breakage, broken ends, and frizz as a result of all that friction! Instead, after your hair is dry, use a wide-toothed comb to gently untangle them or run your fingers through it for a scrunched look.
