The 66th Grammy Awards honored the best songs, compositions and artists this week in Los Angeles, California. The star-studded event had many memorable moments but an artist who was the star of the evening, was Miley Cyrus.
She won her first-ever Grammy in categories: Best Pop Solo Performance and Record Of The Year for her track Flowers. Her award was handed over to her by Mariah Carey.
She thanked many people for the award and ended her acceptance speech with a little story that summed up her feelings.
“There’s a story I wanna tell that sums up this moment. So, there was a little boy and all he wanted for his birthday was a butterfly. And so his parents gave him a butterfly net, and he was so excited. He just went outside out in the sun and started swinging and swinging. But with no luck, he sat down on the ground, he finally let go, and he surrendered, and he was okay that he wasn’t gonna capture this beautiful butterfly. And right when he did, the butterfly came and landed right on the tip of his nose. And this song ‘Flowers’ is my butterfly.”
The singer-actor changed five exquisite outfits during the event. To kickstart the evening, she made a striking entrance onto the red carpet in a one-of-a-kind couture dress by John Galliano for Maison Margiela. The attire was embellished with metal safety pins and intricate beads.
To receive The Best Pop Solo Performance Award, she wore a high-neck halter-top jumpsuit, shimmering in black sequins. She chose a vintage Bob Mackie minidress from 2002 to deliver a captivating performance. Later, she donned a sheer black lace catsuit accentuated by a strapless sweetheart neckline and a chic beaded fringe belt. Lastly, she accepted The Record Of The Year Award in a gorgeous chocolate brown one-shoulder Gucci gown with a daring thigh-high slit.
Not just her dresses, but her hairstyle also garnered headlines. Her retro hairdo – with hair combed backward and volume on the front – was a tribute to her godmother, Dolly Parton.
It was giving a very ‘70s vibe and it looked nothing but dreamy!
While performing her award-winning song, Flowers, on the stage, she changed the lyrics to celebrate one of her career’s biggest milestones.
“Started to cry, but then remembered I — I just won my first Grammy!”
Miley Cyrus absolutely owned the night!
