People love to walk the ramp, wear designer clothes and come as close as they can to the limelight, which is why the fashion industry attracts so many aspiring young people. Every year they’re given a platform to showcase their talent and make it big. There are numerous pageants and talent hunts that happen throughout the year, but not everyone manages to get noticed. But one such aspiring model recently got lucky.
The first runner-up of India’s Top Model, Nisha Yadav walked the ramp at the Lakme Fashion Week recently. She got an opportunity to interact with Union Minister Smriti Irani and it looks like that could be the turning point in her life.
Smriti took to Instagram to share a video of her conversation with Nisha with the caption, “When fashion was not the only takeaway from @lakmefashionwk”
Nisha also shared the same video and wrote, “Leaders become great not because of their power because of their ability to empower others. So, thank you so much, @smritiiraniofficial ma’am, for your encouragement. I lived this moment totally and learned how to stay calm, cooperative, polite and grounded. The way you communicated with me I felt like you are my old friend. Lot’s of respect 🙏
And a big thank you @gautamvazirani sir for making it real.
And Thank you @iamneerajgaba
sir for pitching me for @lakmefashionwk where I got this opportunity to meet all of them. Without you, it won’t be possible to meet Gautam sir then Smriti ma’am. #gratitude #smritiirani #LakmeFashionWeek #intm4 #humanitarian #model”
In the video, Smriti introduces Nisha, who is a law student and model from Rajasthan, and shares her story, which went viral in no time.
Smriti says, “I wanted all of you to meet Nisha Yadav… There is something special about her. She is not only a model but also studying law. She has completed her second year of law from Rajasthan University, the third year is on and she’s already working in Delhi.” She adds that what’s also special about Nisha is that she walked six kilometres every day to attend school.
Nisha explains in the video that her father asked her to leave home when she refused to get married at a young age. Her sisters, who supported her, were also asked to leave.
To this, Smriti said, “Iska matlab betiyon ki shaadi tab jab padhai puri ho, jab balig hon aur jab unki ichcha ho (This means daughters should be married only after their education is complete, once they are adults, and when they wish to get married).”
Nisha then reveals that her situation is better now and their father has accepted them. Her four sisters are also doing well professionally. One is an IAS officer, another is in the police department, the third one is a software engineer, and her fourth sister is a professor.
Ever since this video was shared on social media, Nisha has become Insta-famous. Here’s what netizens had to say about her story:
