We’ve grown up on a staple diet of Bollywood romances and enjoy watching them. To watch two strangers meet and fall in love or two friends realise their love for each other on-screen is so much fun! That being said, when you move past the larger-than-life love stories, you realise how problematic some of these on-screen relationships are. So many of these fictional jodis don’t belong with each other. From Naina Talwar to Robbi Singh—here are a few movie figures that should’ve dumped their undeserving partners and ended up with someone better.
Robbie From Manmarziyaan
Wasn’t Robbie from Manmarziyaan the cutest guy ever? He was sweet, patient, understanding, and we could go on and on about him! All throughout the movie, he loved his wife and patiently dealt with her boyfriend. In spite of her cheating on him, he tried to understand her point of view. TBH, Robbie deserved a whole lot better than someone who couldn’t see what a great guy he was!
Naina From Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
I’m pretty sure it wasn’t just us who wanted Naina to reject Bunny’s proposal at the end of YJHD! Bunny was selfish, and only truly cared about himself. The only reason he even admitted his feelings for Naina was after he saw her share a drink with some other guy. That’s a pretty big red flag!
Reena From Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein
It’s been years since the film was released but we still haven’t gotten over the senseless ending. Maddy pretended to be someone else to win Reena’s love and even forced her to be with him. What’s worse is that Reena chose him in the end over Rajeev who was actually perfect for her. She should’ve just gotten married to Rajeev and spent her life happily with him.
Vanraj From Hum Dil Chuke Sanam
We all love this film, but if Nandini couldn’t see how perfect her husband was in the first half, then she didn’t deserve him in the second. Vanraj was an incredible man and yet, she chased her ex to another country. TBH, both Sameer and Vanraj deserved better.
Arjun From Namastey London
Where do we even start with this movie? Jazz could’ve been honest with Arjun that she had no plans of settling down instead of marrying him and then dumping him. She even kept him hanging till the very end and only agreed to be with Arjun after realising that Charlie wasn’t as perfect as she’d expected him to be.
Meera From Cocktail
Meera ended up with the same man who made fun of her traditional ways in the beginning of the film. TBH, Gautam was a jerk and he didn’t deserve both Meera and Veronica. It would’ve been great if the makers had showed us how the two girls had started their brand and were on their road to success. Anything would’ve been better than the crappy ending we got!
Kabir Singh
TBH, Preeti and Kabir bought out the worst in each other. Both of them should’ve ended up with other people!
There are plenty of other characters we can think of that deserved better but we’ll save that for another list!
