If there’s one Bollywood celebrity you should keep on your inspiration board for experimental makeup, luminous skin, and perfectly bouncy curls, it’s Malaika Arora. Apart from inspiring her followers to hop onto their yoga mats, the 47-year-old also never fails to serve some trend-forward beauty looks. From makeup-free and sunlit selfies to no-black renditions of smokey eyes and not-so-basic versions of classic hairstyles – her play on makeup and hair has not gone unnoticed.
That said, Malaika Arora’s recent look stands as proof that you can’t go wrong with a smoky eye and nude lip combo. While the rest of the makeup is natural and effortless, her lit-from-within skin and sultry black lids deserve their own award. The makeup is not only a perf brunch look to master, but with a few tweaks, it could also serve as your go-to night-out-on-the-town makeup. It’s glamorous, versatile, and most importantly, it translates really, really well in pictures. Out fav bits? It’s surprisingly easy to execute and won’t take you longer than 10 minutes. So if you want to turn up the heat by giving it a go, follow these seven simple steps.
A good base will set the rest of the makeup product up for success. First, prep your skin with a glow-boosting primer. Then, buff a little layer of an illuminating serum-infused foundation to retain max glow. Make sure you don’t forget the neck area. Use a damp sponge to get a flawless finish. Dot and blend concealer under the eyes and on any scars or blemishes you wish to cover.
Fill in any gaps in the brows with your eyebrow pencil and brush them in place with a spoolie. If you’re blessed with fuller eyebrows, you can just use a clear brow product to set it in place.
In a recent look, her eyelids were painted in an ashy black hue. A subtle contour, defined brows, and nude lips complemented her eye makeup. Firstly, apply a light brown transition shade on the outer crease of your eyes. Then, grab an ash black matte eyeshadow and apply it all over your eyelids, blended into the crease and also along the lower lash line. Next, use a kohl to tight line the lower lash line. Apply a dark black eyeshadow near the lower lash liner and slightly smoke it out using a fluffy brush.
Curl your lashes and coat them with a volumizing mascara. Alternatively, you can opt for a voluminous pair of falsies.
Add warmth to your face by using a bronzing powder across the temples, hairline and jawline, and sculpt the face by applying the cream contour along the hollows of your cheeks. Then, pop an illuminating blush on the apple of your cheeks.
Just prep your lips, grab a matte pink lipstick and liner duo. Focus the liner on the outer corner of your lips and fill it in with a nude lipstick.
Grab a curling wand to create large waves rather than tight curls on the lower section of your strands. Then, use your fingers to loosen up your curls for a messy, wavy look and finish it off with a hair setting spray.
