After winning hearts with her stint in the biggest reality show of Indian television, all doesn’t seem to be going well for Mahira Sharma. It all began after the Bigg Boss 13 contestant posted an Instagram story of being awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Following her story, the organisers of the award slammed her for forging the award. And now Mahira Sharma has come out with her version of the story. Well, our job is to clear all the confusion that this controversy has caused. So, here’s a timeline of what actually happened.
What Did Mahira Share On Her Instagram?
On February 20 at around 11:30 pm, Mahira shared a certificate of appreciation awarded to her by the DPIFF (Dadashaeb Phalke International Film Festival) for being ‘The Most Fashionable Contestant Of Bigg Boss 13’. This story was shared by various fan accounts and it went viral instantly.
Dadasaheb Phalke Award Organisers Call Out Mahira
The post definitely did not go down well with the Dadasaheb Phalke award organisers. The official handle of DPIFF slammed Mahira in a statement issued by them. The organisers sent her a notice “asking to take down all the misleading PR activities done by her and her team”. Not just that! They even demanded her to issue a written apology within 48 hours.
Ex Bigg Boss Contestant Issues Clarification
While the written apology didn’t quite make its way to the social media, what Mahira rather posted was a long clarification of what actually happened, narrating her side of the story. She wrote, “Okay so the world has been talking about it since last night, here is my reply which is 100 percent true and honest.”
“Charges made against me for receiving and forging the prestigious DadaSaheb Phalke International Film Festival 2020 is untrue and totally uncalled for… My manager, Mr Abhinav Tanwar was informed by Mr Mehta that we will be gratified at the event with the title of Most Fashionable Bigg Boss 13 Contestant. At the event, the team of Bigg Boss 13 was called on stage and gratified with a token of appreciation. On questioning about my solo award by my manager to Mr Mehta, he handed over the award to my manager stating that I cannot be called on stage owing to the huge hue and rush on stage”, wrote Mahira. Now that, my dear friends, is straight out of a telenovela!
She further added that she doesn’t need any kind of PR gimmick post her successful stint in the most loved season of Bigg Boss. The actress also went on to explain how she put up a story just to express her ‘love and gratitude’.
Twitter Reacts To This Fiasco
Meanwhile, Twitter has been reacting to the Mahira vs DPIFF war. Here are some of the tweets including the one from Divya Agarwal– former BB contestant Priyank Sharma’s ex-girlfriend.

The sooner we know who is saying the truth, the better it is going to be for the sacrosanctity of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Awards.
