Bet You Didn’t Know About These 5 Hacks Using Your Lip Balm

Honestly, there’s so much lip balms can do, and most of us aren’t even paying attention. Most of us just robotically swipe it on before tossing it back into our bag. But just give it a chance and the product will surprise you. Because while hydrating and moisturising are the most talked-about benefits of a lip balm, there’s more to the tube than is let on.

I’m going to deep dive into the lesser-known lip balm benefits and lip balm uses. And it might just make life easier for you. Read on!

The Lesser Known Benefits Of Lip Balm

Is lip balm good for the lips? Of course. Not only can it treat dryness and flakiness, it can also…

Prime The Lips

Since these balms nourish and treat lips, I always layer them on before going in with lipstick. Not only does it smooth over flakiness and peeling, but it also adds an overall sheen to the pout that I love.

Colour The Pout Slightly

Lip balms that are tinted with colour are ideal for when I feel like adding a little something to my look without overdoing it with lipstick. The best part is that it heals my lips simultaneously.

Prevent Sun Damage

PSA: Even our lips are susceptible to sun-induced damage. Exposure to UV rays can discolour and dry out the lips. That’s why sun-proofing them is important. Many balms are now infused with SPF to provide a layer of protection to the lips

Work Better At Night

The lip balm can literally, transform into a lip mask at night. Our cells repair, regenerate and flush out toxins while we’re getting rest. The lip balm enables even the skin on the lips to go through the same process.

Soothe Different Parts Of The Body

During the winter, this is the lazy-girl hack I swear by. I apply some lip balm on the fingertips which gets rid of the dryness. Even when I have a cold, I roll a little bit of it on my nose. This prevents redness and peeling of the skin on the area.

How about that? But there’s more…

The Lesser-Known Uses Of Lip Balms

There are so many ways you can use your lip balm and some of it doesn’t even concern the lips. Who would’ve thought it had so much untapped potential? Read on to understand how to use lip balm.

As A Cuticle Moisturiser

A lip balm can hydrate and nourish the cuticles thoroughly. When my cuticles feel dry and rough, I massage a little bit of the balm over them for a minute or two and let it sit on the skin for a while before washing it off.

As A Mascara Remover

You know how mascara almost always smudges over the lids? Just dip a Q-tip in a jar of balm and go over the smudge to get rid of it easily.

As A Highlighter

For when I don’t have highlighter, I just reach out for my lip balm and go over the high points of my face with it for a natural glow.

As An Eyeshadow Primer

Just like lip balms prime the lips, they can do the same for the eyelids. Right before you apply eyeshadow, go over the area with a non-tinted lip balm. This will ensure better blending. It even extends the longevity of makeup to a certain extent.

As A Lipstick Glaze

Like me, if you too love glazed lips, layer on a lip balm over the lipstick. This will turn matte-textured lipsticks into shiny, gloss-packed formulas.

The lip balm truly does justice to the phrase ‘tiny but mighty’. I know I’m going to use my lip balm in all the ways mentioned above.
