Given that Mukesh Ambani is the richest man in Asia, it’s no surprise that their family celebrations are some of the most extravagant events I’ve ever witnessed. From celeb performers to exotic locations, elaborate cuisines and outfits that cost crores… it all comes naturally to the Ambanis. But guess what? They may not be the only ones who know how to be extra! Another Indian couple gave the family tough competition with their insanely lavish wedding.
In 2017, Dubai-based Director and Fashion Designer Japinder Kaur tied the knot with Harpreet Singh Chadha in a wedding that can only be described as the epitome of a big fat Indian wedding. From their extravagant wedding venue to their stunning outfits and jewellery, every detail oozed opulence, making it a truly spectacular event.
Blogger Julia Chafe, a well-known gemstone seller and expert, recently took to her Instagram to break down Japinder and Harpreet’s oh-so-lavish wedding. And let’s just say, my jaw is still on the floor while I am writing about it. According to Julia, the wedding festivity took place for five days in not one but three ultra-luxurious properties in Dubai. But that’s not it! Not only did they rent Dubai’s mega yacht but also got a helicopter to shower 771 pounds (350 kilos) of rose petals on the yacht.
Wait, there’s more! Japinder wore a 12-carat ring, whereas, her husband got a 6-carat ring. For the reception, the bride wore a literal 22-karat gold crown filled with precious gems like rubies, diamonds, and amethyst. As for her wedding, she wore another 120 carats of polki necklace, which was paired with a 30kg lehenga. Isn’t this blowing your minds?!

I researched some more about the wedding and turns out the festivities took place at The Palazzo Versace Dubai, the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, and the Burj Khalifa. For the roka ceremony, Japinder wore an exquisite gown with Swarovski crystals, a diamond-encrusted tiara, and a solitaire set. Like wow, this wedding seriously seems to have outshone everyone else.
