We just finished watching the Koffee With Karan 7 Ananya Panday and Vijay Deverakonda episode and can we just say, we are obsessed! Vijay’s flamboyance, persona, and playful comments had us sitting at the edge of our chairs throughout the episode. Vijay Opens Up About Being Shy Around Girls
While Vijay may be all confident on screen, he’s quite a softie IRL. This is what he had to say when Karan questioned him about his female co-stars: “In films, you get put in such close proximity very quickly that your bonds develop much quicker. Like normally even to sit or look a girl in the eye and talk would take me a while.” Well, isn’t he a cutie?
His Take On Being An Outsider
Vijay had a rather interesting take on being an outsider in the industry. While he accepted the fact that a person born into a Bollywood family may have an upper hand, Vijay also said that he cannot be mad at someone for being born into a star family. He explained, “The world’s not fair. We’re not all born with the same financial status, with the same height, with the same looks or physical abilities. And I never blame or dislike someone for being born to a rich father where I was struggling to pay rent.” Touché!
A “Cheesy” Old Soul
The actor spoke about all his co-stars and other actresses in the most humble and kind manner which made KJo call him an old soul. Vijay admitted to being one and also mentioned how he wants to get married, have kids, and be a one-woman man several times throughout the show. Isn’t that just adorable?
His Bond With Ananya Panday
While we may have seen many co-stars share the Koffee couch, Vijay and Ananya were hands down the cutest! Ananya didn’t leave any opportunity to playfully hit on her Liger co-star and Vijay was just adorably unaware. The actress even admitted to making a few moves on the actor while shooting, but the Arjun Reddy star remained absolutely unaware. From Ananya’s cute flirty attempts to Vijay calling her a “doll”, these two were just plain #FriendshipGoals.
When He Talked About Arjun Reddy’s Misogyny
When KJo addressed the backlash Arjun Reddy received for being misogynistic, Vijay had the sweetest response. He said, “My job is to empathize with the character and not judge him. Like if I’m judging him, I can’t play him.” When asked about the infamous slap in the movie, he expressed that it was just a part of the character but people do have the right to be angry about it.
Emotional & Proud!
The actor was also asked about the last time he cried to which he replied, “Last month.” However, he further added that he does cry a lot to let it out. Vijay even shared a cute story about him crying on Ananya’s shoulder one night when they were shooting for Liger. Well, don’t we all love a man who can embrace and express his emotions?
Dreaming Big
Vijay spoke about the times when his friends and he couldn’t afford to go on a school trip or go to the movies. He stated that the reason why he is here is that he had the strength to dream big. “Your own family will tell you ‘don’t dream so big,” said the actor. Vijay also expressed that he wants his generation to see him and find the strength to dream bigger. More power to you, Vijay!
