All eyes are set on the British royal family as King Charles III’s Coronation ceremony is just around the corner. Well, May 6, 2023, the grand day everyone is waiting for is going to be a pricey affair. The Royals are not known for cutting corners and no one is accepting anything less than a gala for the Coronation ceremony.
Britain is pulling out all the stops for the crowning of its sovereign head. The three-day celebration will feature street parties, a Windsor concert, and a symbolic ceremony at Westminster Abbey followed by a grand public procession. In fact, our own Bollywood fashionista Sonam Kapoor has been invited to the official ceremony. Phew, it appears the entire country is busy with the preparations and it going to burn a hole in the British taxpayers’ pockets.
According to the reports, King Charles III’s Coronation ceremony will cost over £100 million, i.e., 1021.5 crore. My brain can’t even process how grand the celebration must be.
Interestingly, this royal ceremony is actually going to be much more expensive than the last two royal weddings. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding ceremony cost was £45 million (reportedly), which is more than 463 crore. Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding cost was £30 million, which is 300 crore.
Now that my brain is frozen with all these calculations, I think it is safe to say, King Charles’ ceremony is going to be bigger and grander than any other royal celebration.
The coronation ceremony has already become an attraction for the tourists around the world. I am going to stay glued to the television screen for the whole day ‘coz can’t miss a moment of the 1000 crore ceremony!
