I was obsessed with Barbies as a kid. I literally had some 30 dolls lined neatly in a cupboard (they still lie in a trunk somewhere). The best part? Some of them came with comic books, complete with pictures of Barbie and Ken dolls and fun storylines. But they were never enough. I wanted more of those stories, I wanted an elaborate plot, and I wanted Barbie to be a person.
Guess what? My bachpan ka dream is finally coming true.
It is 2022. Barbie is an actual person now, Looks like The Wolf Of Wall Street’s Margot Robbie, and is all set to hit the theatres in July 2023. Yes, we will soon see the first live-action Barbie movie based on characters from Mattel’s eponymous toy line. Oh, and did I tell you that Ryan Gosling will be playing Ken in the movie? Well, the actor’s look for the film was released yesterday and the internet seems to be losing it. The reactions are extremely polarising. Ryan seems to have undergone a complete makeover to play Ken in the Barbie movie. Our man has platinum blonde hair now and those abs are giving us some serious Crazy, Stupid, Love deja vu. People who manage to look further will spot stone-washed jeans and a matching sleeveless jacket. The most interesting detail here? Ryan’s underwear band with “Ken” written on it.
