From facing multiple rejections to getting his big break as Rajat in Pyaar Ka Punchnama (how could one forget that 5-minute long rant), Bollywood’s heartthrob Kartik Aaryan has come a long, long way. But the journey has not been a cakewalk for this 28-year-old national crush of India.
Hailing from a small-town, Kartik knew that many odds will stack against him in his struggle for stardom, but despite this, he was absolutely confident about what he wanted. Perhaps this is why the actor never had a Plan B. In an interview to a leading daily, the Luka Chuppi star said, “I didn’t have a Plan B. If I didn’t have this career then I don’t know what I would have done. I didn’t have anywhere to go to, I was in a mess, and I was struggling. Back then, if I would have thought of an option then I would have never reached here. I am interested in directing, but nothing apart from that.”
Kartik’s popularity among young fans can be understood from the many antics his fans show when he’s around. From pulling his cheeks to going down on their knees, Kartik’s female fans are always a step ahead when it comes to showing their affection.

But, it’s not just women who are happily proclaiming their love for the actor. Kartik remembers how one time when he was in his hometown Gwalior shooting for Luka Chuppi–every time he would raise his hand to wave at the fans, the crowd would shout, “Hamara neta kaisa ho, Kartik bhaiya jaisa ho!”
Kartik credits his popularity to his youth connect. “My relevance comes because of my youth connect, and that youth connect is because I am a film-watching audience. I am in that age bracket where these are the people who watch films,” he said.
Talking about future plans Kartik said, “I’ve always had a dream of buying a sea-facing house in Bandstand and I’m definitely going to fulfil it. Apart from that, my five-year plans keep getting changed. But on the professional front, I think I’m already living my dream by working with the directors I always wanted to work with.”
Kartik will next be seen with alleged girlfriend Sara Ali Khan in the sequel of the 2008 superhit Love Aaj Kal. He is also shooting for the remake of Pati Patni Aur Woh in which he will be working with Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday.
