From her movie roles to sartorial picks, we love and support Kareena Kapoor Khan in everything that she does. It isn’t blind veneration though. Neither are we a part of some secret Bebo-cult or PHAT-army. It is just that she rarely goes wrong with her choices and always keeps us asking for more. Sadly, perfection is a mirage and sometimes even the best of us fumble. Case in point? Kareena’s recent co-ords-meet-salwar kameez outfit that isn’t sitting too well with us at the moment. Here is why we have our doubts about this look:
For her niece Inaaya Naumi Kemmu’s unicorn-themed birthday party yesterday, Kareena slipped into a floral co-ord set. The outfit comprised a loose kurta-style top and relaxed matching pants. She finished off the look with metallic kohlapuris and all we want to know is how on Earth does that qualify as a party outfit? No, let’s rephrase tha—how on Earth does that qualify as anything that you would want to wear while stepping out of the house (even for a grocery run)?
Now, don’t get us wrong. We admire that Bebo has perfected the tricky balance between chic and comfy over the years. You will rarely spot her in an outfit where she has to compromise on comfort and this one is no different. It does look every bit breezy and just the kind of co-ord set that you can spend days in but only when you don’t plan to go out!
From the unflattering silhouette to the ghastly print, everything about this set suggests that it is not crafted to soothe the eyes. The slouchy cross of salwar and pyjamas is an eyesore for us. We cannot help but wonder if the designer fell short on the fabric while crafting this separate which was perhaps supposed to be a salwar. As far as the kurta is concerned, we can still make peace with it. That said, we still can’t believe that Kareena actually agreed to wear this outfit in public that too at a party. Perhaps comfort really does trump it all for the actress. No judgments, but we are just not impressed. What about you?
