Wanna start your day with a million-dollar question? Here it goes—who will play Sita in the upcoming Bollywood movie Ramayan? NGL, this has left the makers of the movie in quite a pickle. Earlier, the choice was between two of the most popular actresses of Bollywood—Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor Khan. And it seemed like the makers had recently made up their minds and roped in Bebo for the role of Sita. TBH, we were pretty thrilled!
But, her fans whipped themselves into a frenzy when they learned that the actress had charged Rs. 12 crores to play the part. In fact, #BoycottKareenaKhan was also trending on Twitter as netizens believed that she shouldn’t play the role. Absurd, right? And now, it has been confirmed that Kareena may not be a part of Alaukik Desai’s Ramayan at all. Shocked? Scroll on to know more.
Turns out, the makers of the film have not decided on who’ll play Sita yet. Writer Vijayendra Prasad, who’s associated with the project, said in an interview with a leading daily that they’d reveal the name soon. He said, “We have not yet finalised who will play Sitamaa’s character. We will shortly announce a name.”
TBH, this brings us back to square one. Is it Bebo or is it Deepika? Well, turns out that it might actually end up being neither of the two!
A little birdie has revealed that the producers are considering a new actress as she’d be more convincing in the role of Sita. They said, “When Deepika Chikhlia played Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s serial Ramayan, the audiences were not familiar with her face. They willingly accepted her as Sita. But, if today, Deepika Padukone plays Sita, they will be looking at Deepika, not Sita.”
Well, we would like to add that both Bebo and Deepika are super fine actresses who can ace every role they play perfectly. But, having said that, we don’t mind welcoming new talent in B-town. In fact, we’re pretty excited about it!
