So Taimur Ali Khan is trending on social media, yet again. However, it isn’t exactly about him this time around for a change. While Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan have been addressing their second child as “Jeh” all this while, the actress has finally shared his actual name in her debut book, Kareena Kapoor Khan‘s Pregnancy Bible: The Ultimate Manual for Moms-To-Be. The book was launched yesterday and since then the internet has been busy losing it over the revelation.
Just like him, Taimur’s little brother has also been named after a Mughal emperor as well. His full name is Jehangir Ali Khan and that should be enough to explain why it might be seriously ruffling some feathers now. A source shared with an online media portal earlier today that Kareena and Saif were apprehensive about making a huge announcement and that’s why they kept mum about the name all this while. “Yes, they have named their son Jehangir Ali Khan. Saif and Kareena have refrained from revealing the name as they do not want any kind of controversies surrounding it. When Taimur Ali Khan was born, Saif was keen on naming him Faiz after the famous poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz but Kareena decided to go with Taimur. This time too, Saif was keen on naming the child Faiz, but later on, the couple thought of naming their second child Jehangir Ali Khan,” they further revealed.
Earlier in 2016, the couple had faced backlash for naming their first son Taimur Ali Khan. People had immediately connected the name with Timur, a Turco-Mongol conqueror who invaded India in 1398. However, Saif and Kareena had denied all these claims by saying that Taimur means ‘iron’ and that there was no way they were going back on this decision.
However, the name Jehangir has quickly brought back all this to the conversation and the netizens are not having it. “Lagta hain Saif Taimur Dynasty ki line lagane wale hain , Taimur hua , Jehangir hua , then Khalil , Shahrukh , Mirza,” someone has written on Twitter. “Imagine a punjabi Kapoor naming her sons after Taimur and Jehangir who tortured and brutally executed Sikh Guru Arjan. Clearly, the internet has conveniently forgotten about Kareena’s book and is busy obsessing over a child’s name at the moment. Well, it doesn’t sound like that this backlash is going to die anytime soon. Hard to believe that it is actually happening all over again.
