After B-Town Actors, NCB Summons Karan Johar In The Anti-Drug Probe

After B-Town Actors, NCB Summons Karan Johar In The Anti-Drug Probe

A lot was said about the Indian entertainment industry and its alleged drug nexus after the NCB started its probe after actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. From Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh to Deepika Padukone, a lot of names were raised during the same and these people were also summoned and questioned by the NCB.

Around the same time, a 2019 video from Karan Johar’s house party started going viral on social media. The video featured Mallika Arora, Vicky Kaushal, Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and some of the biggest names from the industry who attended KJo’s house party. Back then, the video had received severe backlash after speculations of these actors doing drugs at the party had started doing rounds.

And while people may have forgotten all about it, the video resurfaced earlier this year after NCB’s probe. And it looked like, no one was in the mood of letting it go this time around. The netizens started demanding a probe on it again. However, soon after that the NCB allegedly gave Karan Johar a clean chit in the case, which had come as a shock to many. It came across as a respite for Karan after all the nepotism and B-Town mafia allegations that he faced this year.

Now, in the latest turn of events, Karan has been summoned by NCB and the authority intends to question him about the video. “We have sought details about the video from Johar by 18 December. His (Johar’s) representative can come (to NCB office) with the details or explanation about the video,” an NCB official shared with Firstpost. As per the official, a notice has been sent to the filmmaker so as to check the video’s veracity.

That said, Karan had actually refuted all the drug claims in September and had also raised concerns about their “malicious” nature. “These slanderous and malicious statements, news articles and news clippings have unnecessarily subjected me, my family, and my colleagues, and Dharma Productions, to hatred, contempt and ridicule. I would like to unequivocally once again state that I do not consume narcotics and I do not promote or encourage consumption of any such substance,” he said.

Just last month, comedian Bharti Singh had been summoned by the NCB, was then sent for a 14-day remand, and also had to spend two days in jail before she could finally get bail. Now Karan’s involvement in the case can actually prove to be a turning point given the big names attached to him and the 2019 party that’s being investigated.
