Ivanka Trump reminded us of all things spring as she turned up for the Rashtrapati Bhavan dinner in a resplendent Rohit Bal anarkali. She continued the Trump ladies’ ivory streak with the regal ensemble from Bal’s Guldastah collections. A perfect farewell outfit indeed!
Intricately embroidered with red accents, the floor-length outfit featured a bandh gala and a front slit that beautifully accentuated Ivanka’s slender frame. And as the floral motifs evoked Kashmir in all its ethereal beauty, the gold zardozi details on sleeves added to the overall romance of her outfit.
Ivanka completed the look with a loose chignon and it wouldn’t take much effort to convince anyone that, this one has been Ivanka’s best look during the Trump family‘s India trip.
“Guldastah is very close to my heart and I have used flowers of Kashmir… sunflowers, poppies, tulips, and peonies. This collection is both sensitive and ornate with an underlying sense of luxury interwoven in its many layers. It’s my interpretation of absolute beauty in its purest form,” Bal wrote in his Instagram post describing the aforementioned collection.
As Ivanka managed to keep us impressed with all her fashion choices throughout her India trip, Melania Trump’s pink Carolina Herrera gown ended up being a sartorial miss for the first lady. The unshapely Kaftaan-like gown did nothing for her form and had us questioning her fashion sensibilities.
However, Melania’s curtain of a gown aside, the Trump ladies did manage to make some solid statements with their ivory outfits during the much-talked-about trip. And while there remains space for some symbolic examination behind Melania’s vibrant lotuses, Ivanka’s evocation of Kashmir, and the tons of ivory, that’s enough said (we’d leave it just here).
