Levi’s® #ISHAPEMYWORLD Campaign Is Celebrating 7 Women Who Impacted Our Lives In 2020

If 2020 was the year of the pandemic, it was also the year of human resilience. In the past year, we saw so many women leading the way and taking charge of the situation and working zealously to bring about a huge change for everyone around them. This International Women’s Day, Levi’s® celebrates seven of these changemakers who continue to impact the world with sheer grit and determination.

On March 8th, Levi’s® would be unveiling a brand new season of the Levi’s® #IShapeMyWorld campaign. Conceptualised in 2017, #ISHAPEMYWORLD is a platform created to inspire and enable women across India. Each season of the campaign features a panel of women who have significantly contributed to our lives in the year past. These are the women who are constantly challenging what society expects from them and shaping the world on their own terms.

The campaign is now in its 7th season and has evolved into a year-long digital initiative. This season, #ISHAPEMYWORLD would be celebrating the stories of seven inspiring women. With storytelling at its heart, the conversation would continue throughout the year. It would comprise heart-to-heart interactions with these women and live social media engagements in collaboration with a popular digital media platform.

“The #IShapeMyWorld campaign was conceptualized in 2017 to showcase women who are changing the world in ways both big and small. Through the seasons, we have shown the importance of taking a stand when it comes to the social issues of the day. We want to create a platform for women to add their voice, make an impact and inspire others. Through this year’s campaign, our hope is to introduce these women to the audience through a new lens and inspire a new generation of women with their stories,” shares Sanjeev Mohanty, Managing Director, South Asia, Middle East & North Africa for Levi’s® India.

The Women Change Makers In Focus

As #ISHAPEMYWORLD opens its 7th season, here are the seven women in focus this year:

Faye D’Souza

A journalist, feminist, and an unbiased voice talking about the things that are truly important’ Faye would take us through her journalistic journey. With this campaign, she’d be discussing her disillusionment with the media industry and how she stepped up to become a strong independent voice.

Seema Samridhi Kuswaha

Seema Samridhi, the Nirbhaya lawyer has more than just one high-profile case to her credit. She arrived at this point by literally fighting for her law education. She is now taking on the Hathras case and the stakes are huge. Clearly, this fearless woman won’t let anyone come in her way or in the way of women’s empowerment.

Iti Rawat

The founder of WEFT ( women entrepreneurs foundation), Iti launched the Red Dot Campaign during the lockdown after hearing stories of women being abused at home. This campaign has seen her rescue 100 women and fight for their financial independence.

Zoya Akhtar

A trailblazing force in Indian cinema, Zoya with this campaign, would be diving into her journey as a filmmaker. She’d be talking about asserting herself, feeling confident in her perspective, and never letting anyone show her down ‘coz of her gender.

Sumukhi Suresh

Who doesn’t know this stand-up comedian who has cemented her craft across the live comedy circuit, viral YouTube sketches, films, and even the OTT space. In 2020, she stunned us with her show Pushpavalli. And now she is taking on the role of a showrunner, creator, and co-writer for a comedy-drama series. She has constantly proven that creativity doesn’t have any boundaries and continues with her mission.

Trisha Shetty

An Indian activist for gender equality, Trisha is the founder of SheSays, a non-profit organisation that empowers the country’s women by providing education, legal and medical as well as psychological support. Throughout the pandemic, her organisation kept working for women’s empowerment and organising drives and digital events to facilitate the same.

Raja Kumari

An Indian-American rapper, songwriter with International fame, Raja Kumari would be discussing her journey to world acclaim. She’d also be talking about finding her own sense of belonging and how she embraced herself to find success on her own terms in Music.
