Is This The Last Season Of Bigg Boss? Here’s Why We Think So

Including both its OTT installments, Bigg Boss Hindi has seen a total of 18 seasons so far and I always thought there’d be more to come. I legit had fantasies about watching the show with my children (don’t judge plij). However, that sounds like a distant dream now and it looks like the reality show is in its last lap, all thanks to just one eliminated Bigg Boss OTT 2 contestant.

Recently, Puneet Kumar aka Puneet Superstar became the very first contestant to be evicted from the reality show within 12 hours of the season premiere. It all happened after Puneet, who originally ranked second as per the viewer’s votes, was brought down to the 10th spot by a panel of Bigg Boss “specialists”.

This did not sit well with the content creator who made a scene in the house demanding the makers restore his original rank. He went on to empty tubes of toothpaste, handwash, and detergents to get the production team’s attention. Puneet didn’t even shy away from messing with the cameras and manually turning them towards him. Bigg Boss had no clue what to do with someone like him and he left it to the housemates who eventually voted him out of the house.

However, the BB makers underestimated Puneet who is now busy badmouthing the show, its creators, and host Salman Khan. Here’s why I feel he has effectively ruined the show’s cult status.

Makers Exposed!

Things aren’t going well in the Bigg Boss OTT 2 house ever since Puneet’s elimination. While the episode featuring him was an eventful one, things appear to be quite thanda now. Meanwhile, Puneet is busy attacking the makers and talking about how he was unfairly ranked by the makers despite getting the second-highest number of votes. He has a very strong social media following and all his fans are now questioning every biased decision that is being made in Bigg Boss OTT 2. They want to know why was Pooja Bhatt given the first rank even when it was Abhishek Malhan who got the max number of votes.

Viewers are also pissed by the makers bringing a panel of Bigg Boss supporters like Sunny Leone and MC Stan and then pretending that they are “janta ki awaaz.” Even in the recent captaincy task, the viewers found it hard to believe that Cyrus Broacha got more votes than Abhishek and beat him. They are finally disillusioned enough not to give two hoots about the show and can’t connect with it anymore.

‘Superstar’ For A Reason

Salman Khan might have struggled to call Puneet a “superstar” but it is apparent that he is one. Puneet had just 400k followers on Instagram when he was thrown out of the house and has managed to hit the coveted 1 million mark in less than a week. And this is just one of his accounts. The social media influencer has multiple IDs owing to the sheer volume of reels he posts in a day.

In a recent social media live, Puneet also made a new record. He managed to register the highest number of viewers for any live that has ever been done by any Bigg Boss contestant. Over 7.5 lakh people watched him talk about Bigg Boss and casually say things like “Salman Khan can’t mock me for not having any girlfriend. He doesn’t have one either.”

It is clear that the Bigg Boss makers mistook Puneet to be one of those nuisance-causing contestants who they could disrespect and mock throughout the season. He refused to deal with the disrespect and is retaliating unlike anyone has ever before. Also, Puneet has a fan-following strong enough to amplify what he has to say.

It would be interesting to watch how Bigg Boss aka India’s number one reality show recovers from this setback. Will it though?
