It’s been a great streak for Chennai Super Kings this IPL season. That is, up until last night at the CSK vs. MI match. CSK lost the second of 7 matches played to Mumbai Indians (by 8 wickets, that too)—in other words, it wasn’t the best night for M.S Dhoni and his cricket squad.
However, as expected Dhoni showcased true sportsmanship post-match.
Let’s rewind to mid-match for a sec. Ishan Kishan, the 19-year-old M.I cricket player missed stumping M.S. Dhoni out by a hair while he was batting.
Dhoni beat him to the crease, of course, right before he dislodged the bails. Soon after, he was sent on his way by McClenaghan and Lewis. As we all know, losing M.S. Dhoni on the field wasn’t the best thing for the team… CSK eventually lost to M.I by 8 wickets.
After that tough defeat, though, M.S. Dhoni and Ishan Kishan, who are both from Jharkhand, were found bonding after the game.
In fact, Ishan Kishan was ‘learning a trick or two from the best in business’. Dhoni was giving the young batsman a short lesson on wicketkeeping. The big stump opportunity that Kishan missed mid-game probably led Dhoni to help him out with his wicketkeeping technique…
Win or lose, Dhoni has always been an ideal leader and performer (and also the best dad) who knows about the true spirit of sportsmanship. After all, it’s all about being a sport and not just winning the game.
