It’s just the beginning of 2018 and we’ve already seen Bollywood’s best enjoy a few sparkly moments with their followers. The social media giant has given a shoutout with the first ever Instagram awards in India, to acknowledge its most engaging community members in the country.
1. Most Engaged Account
Kicking off the list we have the reason why most young women started watching cricket, Virat Kohli with the ‘Most Engaged Account’. With 19.8 million followers as of March 2018, his account generated the biggest number of engagements, which includes all the likes, comments and shares that his followers have contributed in. and why not, Kohli’s account is arguably one of the most relatable ones, with posts about the simpler things in his life, this is one-boy-next-door that everyone loves to follow!
2. Most Followed Account
Leading Bollywood star, Deepika Padukone emerged as the “Most Followed Account” with 22.4 million followers, closely followed by International sensation Priyanka Chopra with 22 million followers, as of March 2018.
Both actresses have an aesthetic Instagram feed that fares well with their followers. Both actresses constantly use the platform to reach out to their fans, have conversations and share BTS peeks into their glamorous lives. Style enthusiasts often visit their pages for outfit inspiration too!

3. Milestone Awards
In recognition for building a community of 20 million followers, Instagram presented Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor with a milestone plaque. The young actresses have made quite a stir in recent years with their on and off screen projects and this award is another feather in their super chic hat!
Usage of features like Instagram Stories, Live, Boomerangs, and Superzoom, have allowed celebs to be more real and personal with their fans!
4. Emerging Account
Soon to debut in Shashank Khaitan’s Dhadak with fellow newbie Jahnvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter was awarded the ‘Emerging Account’ of the year. Shooting his Instagram followers to a whopping 189k followers in a manner of months, the young actor has already tugged on the Indian audiences heartstrings with his casual charm and quirky Insta feed!
Talking about his win, the young actor iterated: “Instagram is the social media platform I love the most. It’s a non-stop source for inspiration from people and personalities all over the world. I find it especially enjoyable because it’s about connecting through pictures and videos.
