How Your Boobs Change In Your 20s, 30s And 40s!
Ladies, you know that one day your boobs won’t look as fantastic as they do right now. You’re probably thinking that “one day” is like in your late 50s or 60s and way too far to worry about right now. You may be right, but that doesn’t mean your girls don’t go through plenty of changes before you reach that age. Read on to know about all the changes and the journey your boobs have with each decade.
In Your 20s…
Their Size Will Change
You may no longer be the A-cup girl you were in your teens. Your breasts do grow well into your 20s and their size will fluctuate when you lose/ gain weight. Also, your breasts will get bigger during pregnancy and lactation. Afterwards, they can stay this size or become smaller than what they were before. Pregnancy can also make your nipples darker and larger, but don’t worry, they go back to normal post-delivery.
Lumps and Bumps Are Common
Lumps don’t necessarily mean something serious, so before you have a panic attack if you ever notice one, you should know that swollen lumps and bumps are super common during your 20s. This is thanks to hormonal fluctuations during your monthly cycle, namely estrogen and progesterone. Breast injury or changes in the breast tissues can also cause them. Just see a gynaecologist and get yourself checked, that’s all. 🙂
In Your 30s…
Stretching Is Normal
If you’ve had a couple of kids or undergone significant weight loss/ gain then it’s normal for the skin of your breasts to stretch. A little bit of drooping and stretch marks are normal at this time. It may sound not so great, but every single woman goes through it. One thing you can do to prevent this is as much as possible is to maintain a constant weight to prevent stretching and sagging of your skin thanks to weight fluctuations.
In Your 40s…
Gravity Will Have Its Way!
The collagen that is responsible for firmness and lifting up your girls starts giving way. The elasticity of your breasts decreases. As you inch closer to menopause, your body produces less estrogen, which causes a lot of breast changes. Involution is the process where the breast tissue is replaced by fat at this age, making your twins feel much softer rather than firm.
More Lumps and Bumps
Involution doesn’t happen uniformly across your boobs, which means that they can feel softer in some parts. Because one part can get fatty, the skin next to it can feel lumpy in comparison. If a lump is soft, it’s nothing to panic about, but if it is pretty firm you should get it tested. Self-examining yourself often and getting checked by your doctor is super important for women once they reach this age.
Why Do Breasts Change?
Girls, your breasts are made of fat, lymph nodes, nerves, milk systems, fibrous tissues and veins. Lumpiness and changes in density are only normal and are very natural. Breasts are super sensitive to hormonal changes during your menstrual cycle, which is why they can feel different during different times of the month. These changes can occur gradually but you can suddenly notice them one day and feel like it happened overnight. The bottom line is that it’s normal and nothing to stress over.
