Sheet masks have a love-hate relationship with me. I like how simple they are to use, but I hate that you have to throw them away after only one use. Sheet masks are ideal for those of us with lazy tendencies because they are easy to travel with, generally mess-free, and you don’t usually have to rinse your face after using them.
So it’s a shame that you can only use the contents of each packet once before discarding it. Because there are a few things you can do to get extra uses out of these supposedly one-and-done face masks. Here are five practical tips and tricks for really getting your money’s worth out of those sheet masks.
Here’s How To Repurpose Your Sunscreen Sheet Masks
Massage It In
If you wish to use up all of the serum inside the sunscreen sheet mask pouch in one day, consider massaging it on other parts of your body to reduce tan, soothe inflamed skin, and provide hydration. Depending on the formula, you may wish to massage any surplus serum into your neck, chest, hands, or even your feet.
Squeeze It Out
Sheet masks nearly usually come with far too much serum. To avoid wasting it, gently squeeze the excess out of your mask while it’s still in the bag. When you’re done using your sheet mask, either dump the excess serum into an airtight container or secure the bag with a clothespin or rubber band. You can use the rest of this serum later. If you aren’t going to use it that day, save it in the fridge and try to use it the next day.
Cut The Excess
The areas around the eye openings on many sheet masks typically have flaps. Before placing the mask on your face, trim these flaps so they don’t protrude while you’re wearing it. These can be saved for later use as eye masks.
Dry Sheet Masks To The Rescue
Use dry, compressed sheet masks rather than the ones that came in the packaging if you do decide to use the extra serum to create another face mask. Plop one of the coin face masks into the serum, let it absorb the ingredient, and then proceed as usual with the sheet mask. You should be able to use the serum pouch one or two more times, depending on how much is still in it.
Soak Up The Cotton Pads
There are several ways that cotton pads might help you use up the extra serum that is present in a sheet mask pouch. You can soak a few cotton pads in the solution and apply them to your face for the same amount of time as a typical sheet mask, if you prefer more focused treatments, such as beneath your eyes or only on your T-zone. After cleansing, you can simply run a cotton pad with the serum on it wherever you want the treatment, or if you prefer, you can simply swipe the serum all over your face like a toner or, well, serum.
So make the most out of it!
