A Step-By-Step Guide To Give Yourself A Relaxing Pedicure At Home

A Step-By-Step Guide To Give Yourself A Relaxing Pedicure At Home

Pedicures are one such salon treatment that you can’t miss out on. They keep your feet in good condition and are also super relaxing. Salons know exactly what to do when it comes to pedicure sessions; they have different pedicure services that vary in terms of what you require most. Some services focus more on foot massages for relaxation, while others will offer three different scrubs or foot masks if you wish to beautify your feet. It’s just preset package deals that you can opt for depending on what you need most for your feet.

While a handful of salons do allow you to customise your pedicure session according to your liking, it isn’t always possible to do so. You will either have to pay for more than one pedicure service if you want it all,  or you could just sit tight and be satisfied with what’s offered in the service you chose. Although, with an at-home pedicure sesh, you don’t have to make any compromises. Giving yourself a pedicure at home is much easier than you think and it can be everything you wish for without the extra price points. Besides, you should learn how to take care of your feet at home in case salons aren’t accessible again due to the pandemic.

Here’s A Step-By-Step Guide To Help You DIY

Take It All Off

Start by taking off old polish from your nails. Use a nail polish remover and cotton to get the job done. In case you have glitter polish on, soak ten cotton balls in the nail polish remover and place them on the polished nails. Apply some aluminium foil to cover the nails and let the nails absorb the nail polish remover from the cotton balls for a few minutes and then wipe off the polish. You will be amazed by how easily all the stubborn glitter particles come right off.

Soak It In

An invigorating foot soak is a personal favourite when it comes to pedicure sessions. Prepare a tub of hot water for your feet and sprinkle some bath crystals into the tub. Lavender infused bath salts make for the best foot soaks to unwind with while softening the skin on your feet. Soak your feet for at least 20 minutes before you move on to the next step.

Trim Into Shape

Time to cut and shape those toenails. Remove your feet from the tub and pat them dry with a towel. Use a nail cutter to trim your nails and don’t worry too much about getting the shape right instantly. Once your nails are cut, you can then easily shape them with a nail file. Get a nail file that has a pointy head so that you can remove any dirt that may have collected underneath your nails as well.

Scrub Up

Once you’ve trimmed and shaped your nails, proceed to exfoliation. Use a nourishing foot scrub to soften your skin and rinse it off with the water. Use an electric callus remover tool that has a pumice stone head in case your feet have excessively rough skin. Wipe your feet with a towel after this step.

Moisture Massage

Apply a moisturising foot cream and give yourself a foot massage. This will help destress your feet and beautify them. You can even use a massage oil that relaxes muscles and joints for an extra therapeutic treat.

Finishing Touches

Massage a cuticle oil onto your nail beds to strengthen your nails and care for your cuticles. If you want to apply polish, first dab away excess cuticle oil from your nails and then apply a base coat to prep your nails. Paint on your desired nail polish and once the coat has dried, seal the deal with a clear topcoat.
