So does contouring really live up to the hype of defining your bone structure and sculpting your face? Definitely, just look at a Kardashian selfie for proof! Contouring and highlighting is like a makeup revolution for a chiseled face that is bright and youthful. But if you still haven’t figured out how to do it even after countless Instagram videos about it, don’t worry. We help you turn around your contouring skills with a few easy steps.
Follow this beginner’s guide to contouring which is super easy to do as often as you like and isn’t too dramatic. It will give you a subtly more sculpted face and will help lift your features without looking like an over-the-top transformation. Trust us, this is suitable for daily wear, won’t require too much skill and will really help enhance your look. Let’s do this!
You Will Need:
Step 1: Apply your base (your regular foundation and concealer) before you begin. Now suck in your cheeks and apply a darker shade of foundation across the hollows of your cheek (below your cheek bone), starting from your hairline.
Step 2: Map the rest of your face by applying it on the temples of your forehead and along your hairline, along your jawbone, on either side of your chin and down the edges of your nose. Now blend in all your contour colour with a brush or a damp sponge in small, circular motions. You can sweep on bronzer with a brush across the hollows of your cheeks for an even more defined look if you like.
Step 3: Now take the lighter colour (or the highlighter in your palette) and apply it underneath your eyes, down the center of your nose, the middle of your chin and the center of your forehead. Blend it well and remember to watch out for any harsh lines.
Step 4: Now that your face has been subtly sharpened, take a big brush on dust on some loose powder to set your look.
Who knew contouring was THIS easy and looked so effortless! Now go on and take a selfie like the fabulous Kim K.
