We Imagined 7 B-Town Actors As Leads In These Hollywood Films & Now We Want A Remake!

I watched The Intern a few months ago. And, I’m not kidding, there were a few instances in the movie, where Robert De Niro reminded me of Amitabh Bachchan. Obviously, my desi heart wondered how amazing it would be if the Paa actor had played that role instead. Guess what? Recently, it has been announced that an official remake of the movie is under production with Deepika Padukone and *drumroll* Mr Bachchan in the lead. Wow, wishes do come true, right?

NGL, it was not the first time when such a thought crossed my mind. There have been several times when I have imagined a B-town actor playing a character in a Hollywood movie and simply nailing it. Well, not all of them have been remade in Bollywood yet, so if you want a better idea of what we’re talking about, read on!

7 Hollywood Characters That Bollywood Actors Can Ace!

What if these Bollywood actors had starred in the following Hollywood movies as the following characters? Would they have done a better job? Would the chemistry have worked between the leads? Are you guys as intrigued as we are? Then keep scrolling!

Neena Gupta As Miranda Priestly (The Devil Wears Prada)

Instagram

Is there any role that Neena Gupta cannot ace? We doubt it. From giving us major fashion inspo in Masaba Masaba to reminding us of every desi mom in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, the actress can legit do anything—even ace the role of Miranda Priestly played by Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada. I mean, just imagine for a second, Neena slowly scrutinising you from head to toe and and nonchalantly saying ‘that’s all’. Perfect!

BTW, while we think that only the Badhaai Ho actress can ace a role played by Meryl, we are also placing our bets on Aditi Rao Haidri to nail Anne Hathaway’s part.

Alia Bhatt As Mia (La La Land)

Instagram

Both Dear Zindagi and La La Land released in 2016. If you look closely enough, you will find a little similarity between Alia Bhatt’s Kaira and Emma Stone’s Mia. They both are trying to put up a strong front in front of the world but struggling from within. In fact, her role in Highway, where she played a young girl who loved life but was not happy with her circumstances, is also a solid reason to believe that she would have been a perfect pick for La La Land. Also, how amazing would Alia and Ryan Gosling look together?!

Sanya Malhotra As Cruella De Vil (Cruella)

Instagram

It has only been five years since Sanya Malhotra made her debut in Bollywood with Dangal. But NGL, she has played more unconventional roles than most of her peers in the industry. Think Pagglait, Photograph, and Pataakha. Well, all these movies have us convinced that she could have played Emma’s Cruella De Vil in Cruella easily. The character is offbeat, strong-headed, and hella stylish! Perfect for Sanya!

Taapsee Pannu As Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games)

Instagram

Do we really need to explain this one? Taapsee Pannu is one of the fittest actresses in B-town RN and we love watching her perform stunts on-screen. Not only would she have done a fab job as Katniss Everdeen, but also survived The Hunger Games in real. Yep, she looks that strong!

Vicky Kaushal As Tyler Durden (Fight Club)

Instagram

Is it just me or do you also think that Vicky Kaushal can play a dangerous character brilliantly? There’s something in his *deep, dark and gorgeous eyes* that tells us that he can play a complex character like Tyler Durden easily. He can be fearless, powerful, and delusional at the same time. We have already seen him play such roles in Uri: The Surgical Strike and Bhoot.

Akshay Kumar As Arthur Fleck (Joker)

Instagram

It’s not easy for anyone to do what Joaquin Phoenix did in Joker. He lived the character and conveyed his emotions beautifully. TBH, that’s a skill that Akshay Kumar has mastered perfectly over the years. Whether it’s comedy, thriller, action, or drama, the actor has given us one amazing performance after the other in every genre. He can easily switch from one mood to another with his on-screen character and express different emotions at once. And, that’s why we think he could have easily played Arthur Fleck in Joker.

Katrina Kaif As Maleficent (Maleficent)

Instagram

Remember the movie Mere Brother Ki Dulhan? In the first half, Katrina Kaif was a college student who believed in the concept of YOLO. In the second half, however, she played the role of a girl who avoided troubles and wanted to live her life peacefully. Well, Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent also had two sides to her character. She was a ruthless queen but also loved Princess Aurora dearly. We think that the Zero actress could have easily nailed this character.

If ever these Hollywood movies are remade in India, we know which actors we would love to see in them.
