Starting from a small theatre company to acting in some of Bollywood’s best movies, Radhika Apte has come a long way. Her journey has also been pretty damn inspiring. It took the actress close to a decade to get where she is today. The actress lived in tiny rented spaces while working extremely hard. She did prove that all that hard work eventually pays off.
With a different avatar in every movie, she keeps reinventing herself and that definitely makes her one of B-Town’s finest actors today. Her impressive career covers films and web series’ in different genres and languages. She indeed is a powerhouse of talent.
Presently, she’s working on her upcoming film Mrs Undercover and wrapped up a shoot schedule in Kolkata just before the lockdown. She’s also currently dominating the headlines for her leaked nude video from the movie Parched that went viral a few years ago. Radhika played a sex worker in the film. In a recent interview, the Pad man actress finally broke her silence on the alleged video and opened up about her role.
Radhika shared that her role in the movie had come at a time when she “needed” it.
“I really needed a role like this because when you’re in Bollywood you’re constantly told what to do with your body and I always maintained that I would never do anything to my body or face,” she said. She further commented how she was trolled badly when the clip was released.
Radhika even shared her trauma. “I couldn’t step out of the house for four days, not because of what the media was saying but because my driver, watchman, and my stylist’s driver recognised me from the images,” she explained.
The Phobia star also clarified that the controversial photographs were bare-skinned selfies, “anyone with a sane eye could’ve guessed it wasn’t me.” In her reaction to it, she said that since there’s nothing one can do, it’s best to ignore it. “So, when I stripped for Parched, I realised–there’s nothing left for me to hide,” she added as the last note.
You can’t help but love Radhika’s attitude on calling a spade a spade. More power to the actor for opening up and sharing her unpleasant experience. You go, girl!
