After wowing us with their immaculate style on Day 1 of India trip, Ivanka and Melania Trump continue the fashion streak on Day 2 as they step out in their pristine white ensembles. And while both the ladies put their best fashion foot forward, we confess that we have a soft corner for Ivanka’s tailored attire, for all the right reasons of course.
Earlier today, Ivanka made it to the ceremonial reception of POTUS Donald Trump, dressed in an Anita Dongre handwoven sherwani. Accentuated with metallic buttons, the Suruhi sherwani by the ace-Indian designer looked every bit regal and stylish. Ivanka completed the Indo-Western look with a pair of cigarette pants and white mules and we are loving the look for its Indianness.
The designer tells us, “Ivanka is wearing a sherwani made out of handwoven silk from Murshidabad, West Bengal. It is timeless, and such a classic. We created this style 20 years ago and it’s amazing to see how beautifully relevant it is even today. A powerful, standout silhouette, a sherwani carries the same charisma in absolutely any colour but my personal favourites are the evergreen blue, white and black.”

FLOTUS Melania Trump, on the other hand, went for her characteristic style in a button-down cotton poplin shirt dress by Carolina Herrera. And we are not too sure if it was deliberate on her part, but the first lady did manage to cater to the Indian sensibilities even in her quintessentially American outfit with the embroidered lotuses that show brightly on her dress. Just like Day 1, Melania decided to cinch her outfit with a red belt and completed the look with basic white pumps.
