Save Those Pennies! Here’s How To Make Your Own DIY Hair Gel At Home


The pandemic has caused an economic shock worldwide and during these uncertain times, it’s wise to hold on to one’s pennies. Avoid making unnecessary splurges and focus on saving for a rainy day. One way to save your moolah is to look out for DIY versions of your favourite beauty products. Trust me, you would be surprised to know you already have most of the ingredients at home. Today, we’re going to learn how to make a hair gel!

This Homemade Hair Gel Recipe Is A Piece of Cake!


In just a couple of minutes, you can whip yourself some good quality hair gel! 

Here’s What You Need:

  • Unflavoured gelatin
  • Rosemary essential oil
  • Plain water
  • Empty container

How To Make Hair Gel At Home:

Step 1: Pour 1 cup of warm water into a clean empty container

Step 2: Add 1 tsp of unflavoured gelatin to the water

Step 3: Add 2-3 drops of rosemary essential oil.  

Step 4: Stir all the ingredients well using a toothpick.

Step 5: Close the container and place it in the refrigerator for 4-5 hours. 

Step 6: Once the gel has set, it’s ready to use!

If you’re not satisfied with the hair gel’s texture, add a tsp of gelatin for a stronghold. The second thing to keep in mind is that this hair gel is meant to be applied on damp hair. To define your curls, scrunch the ends with hair gel and you’re done! For essential oils, you don’t have to only stick to using rosemary oil, you can experiment with other essential oils such as lavender, lemongrass and peppermint!
