Coming from a non-filmy background, she’s struggled her way to the top and is now probably the only Indian actress to have earned a place for herself in Hollywood. If you dream, you can achieve – that’s what she stands for to me.

As cliched as it sounds, my mother is my biggest inspiration. You might hear that a lot from people but honestly, I look up to her for everything. I think everybody who knows me knows that I spend countless hours watching makeup tutorials on YouTube. I have been following Nikkie de Jager (NikkieTutorials ) past 3-4 years now. I admire her because she is honest with her followers, about products, techniques and other likes or dislikes!. Recently, she was forced to come out as transgender. In the 17 minutes long video, she describes her journey and how she was forced to reveal her true identity to the world. Nikkie handled it so beautifully and definitely inspired me to face my demons!

This One’s For Some Sister Love
My biggest inspiration is my sister and not because I love her but because she is a person that I aspire to be every day. She created an organic skincare brand from scratch – from branding, designing, recruiting to distribution and everything else in between. Apart from that, she also works for an NGO to help other women in Dehradun. It wouldn’t be wrong to call her a one-woman army! Besides being super brave when it comes to choosing to do things which don’t seem easy at all, she is also a selfless, loving sister and I wish I could be even 10% of who she is.

This One’s All Love For Her Super Cool Mom-In-law
Even though we are surrounded by bravest, powerful and amazing women, I like to draw my inspirations from my own home. And for me, it has to be my mother-in-law. She has the ability to love unconditionally and call out her son when she needs to, and I adore her for that. She takes care of my child when I’m at work, manages the house chores, cooks us delicious food, and the list of what she does for us is endless. Even though she is holding the fort down RN, she manages to meet her friends regularly and stay in touch with our extended family. My MIL inspires me every day to be a better person…the one, who cares about her family without having to ditch her friends.

Political campaigning for the Delhi assembly elections for the past few months has put Atishi Marlena, who is an MLA, educator, and activist from Delhi, in the spotlight. She is the brain behind the complete facelift that Delhi’s government schools have received–a feat that won the Aam Aadmi Party praises and was a major contributing factor for their recent win. I hope to see her take up more leadership roles in the future–an intelligent, educated and inspiring female leader is just what the young women growing up in India need!

It is always in good, impassioned literature that I find true inspiration and solace. This is why I keep going back to the poetry of Amrita Pritam whenever I find myself in a tough spot in life. There is this unyielding strength and resilience embedded in her words and I have always looked up to. Her writings have taught me fortitude irrespective of what life throws at me and I think of this as a virtue integral to protect your spirit in this wilderness of a world.
