With just a few months left until my wedding, I’ve been working hard to get things in order and already planning my leave. I mean, the last thing I want is to deal with work stress when I’m in the middle of wedding preparations! But hey, not everyone thinks like that— for some people work is life and nothing can top that.
A recent LinkedIn post has been gaining a lot of attention for the same reason. It features Cassey Mackrell, co-founder of the AI startup, Thoughtly, who was spotted working on his laptop even on his wedding day. The image was shared by his fellow co-founder and CEO, Torrey Leonard, with the caption, “My co-founder Casey has built a reputation for himself as “the guy who sits on his laptop in bars” from SF to NYC. Last week Thoughtly brought on a customer that needed to launch within 2 weeks. He just so happened to be getting married within that 2 week window… So, here he is wrapping up a pull request. At his own wedding. Congrats Casey– now please, go take some time off,”
The post has sparked a conversation about the balance between personal life and professional commitments. While some supported him, the majority of people were not pleased with the instance.
While Cassey is busy building a business, he probably forgot that building a happy marriage is even tougher. But hey, to each their own! Here’s wishing the newlyweds all the best and a work-free honeymoon.
