One thing I’m very sure about when it comes to my wedding outfits, no matter whether I get them designed or buy them off the rack, I want to look like a princess. Not just on my wedding day, but on all other functions too, and nope, I’m not even guilty about this! I’m sure all you girls out there want the same, right? Well, so did Resham, and her dream was fulfilled by her dreamy fiancé.
Meet Utkarsh and Resham – a beautiful couple who got married recently in Delhi. Theirs was a grand wedding, right from the wedding planner to the decorator – everything was on point.
But, despite the wedding being so luxurious, all I could focus on were Resham’s stunning outfits for her wedding and mehendi ceremonies. While scrolling through her pictures, I discovered a sweet surprise. Both her outfits were designed by none other than Utkarsh, the groomie himself. Utkarsh Ahuja is the owner of the designer label Matsya, and he made sure that his bride-to-be looked just as princessy as she wanted to. The handsome and oh-so-amazing groomie had something very adorable to say about his decision to design his wife’s wedding outfits:
“It was probably the biggest challenge I gave myself, to create something more beautiful and more extravagant than I had ever done, to use every knowledge and essence of the craft of couture inside me. Also, to create a lehenga that was an honest reflection of who she was, was itself a beautiful journey of getting to know her better. She deserved the most beautiful lehenga in the world and I hope I came a little closer to making something as perfect for her as humanly could be.”

So, for the mehendi ceremony, Utkarsh designed a gorgeous pastel blue, yellow and pink layered lehenga for Resham. The skirt was flowy and the contrasting dark pink blouse added a lot of substance and colour to the dreamy outfit.
We also loved the tassel detailing on the icy blue net dupatta. With minimal make-up and jewellery, Resham’s mehendi look was straight out of a fairytale.
Next up, was the shaadi ceremony. It seems like Resham is someone who does not like going OTT with her style, and that showed in her wedding outfit too. Utkarsh designed a cream-ish pink lehenga for his beautiful bride, which was done up gorgeously with a lot of embellishments.
Her bridal look was completed with heavy, royal-looking jewellery that included a layered necklace, Rajputi kadas, haathphools, maangtika and heavy jhumkas. The final touch of elegance was added by her graceful red chooda.
But that is not the end of the sweet gestures the groom planned for his wife-to-be. He also gave her a handwritten note and a bouquet of flowers before their wedding, making her day a 100 times more special!
Just one question though! Where do we find such amazing guys like Utkarsh?
The lucky and elated bride also had some words of love and appreciation for her hubby:
“I knew he was a visionary and a perfectionist from the moment we started talking. So, when he told me that Matsya would design all the outfits, I was more than overjoyed. Throughout our courtship, I had no idea what was brewing and in fact, I saw my bridal lehenga just a few weeks prior to the wedding. But, I was pretty certain that it would be a Matsya Masterpiece. And I was right! Turns out, you CAN fall in love at first sight! He had beautifully integrated my essence in this blush pink lehenga, handcrafted with Love. Gorgeous trees, playful deers, liberated birds- he created a joyful fairytale on the canvas of the lehenga- and on my heart!”
