Bollywood is shifting its attention to the mythological genre and it is creating a lot of drama. The biggest example of this is Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. According to the grapevine, Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi were picked for the project. However, it appears, Alia has now become the front contender for the role of Sita in the film and the internet is not happy with it.
A source close to the film’s production hinted at the fact that Alia was the original choice for Ramayana. However, she was unable to commit to the project due to date issues. After a little back and forth, it appears Alia has managed to find time for the project.
A Reddit thread questioned Alia’s casting for the project. One Redditor commented, “At the risk of being trolled but Alia and Ranbir have ZERO chemistry. I was trying hard to convince myself of some chemistry during Bramhastra but couldn’t find any. Sai Pallavi and RK’s would have been a fresh pairing plus she would look the part.”
Another shared, “Alia being in anything and everything is just plain boring now. Nothing against her personally, but do these people really have no other options? Every big project eventually ends up in her lap only… sad since Sai would have been a stellar casting choice.”

In all honesty, Alia and Ranbir’s chemistry in Brahmāstra was nothing to write home about. Also, I was looking forward to the fresh pairing of Sai and Ranbir. But I am determined to keep my mind open about a #Ralia film.
I think all we can do is wait for the official announcement for Ramayana. Maybe Alia and Ranbir’s pairing can surprise us?
