Emily In Paris Has Begun Filming For Season 2 & We Can’t Wait To Hate-Watch It!

Bonjour, mon chéri! As we’re all isolated in our homes due to the second wave of the COVID-19, we could all use do with some positive developments. Today, it is an announcement that will send Emily In Paris fans into a frenzy—the show has officially started filming for its second season!

The makers of the show had announced last November that the show would return for Season 2. They shared a quirky letter written by Emily’s boss in the show, which stated, “We love having Emily in Paris! But please don’t let her know that.”

The show’s creator, Darren Star (FYI, he’s also the creator of Sex And The City!), has dropped some hints about the new season. “I think Emily has some surprising tough choices,” he said. “The show’s so much about the culture undermining her expectations of how things are and how things seem. And everything will not be as it seems. It’s always about challenging her American worldview. We certainly have a lot of forks in the road and a lot of places to go.”

While the pandemic made it unclear when filming for Season 2 would begin, the show’s official Netflix account just shared a cute video of the cast announcing that the production has begun. Take a look!

In a recent interview, Lily Collins, who portrays the role of Emily, dropped a hint that would make any SATC fan hyperventilate with excitement. She said she would ‘love to see a tribute to Carrie Bradshaw somewhere in the new season.’

“She could be like an apparition,” said Collins. “Emily walks by, and there’s a reflection in a window, and she looks in, but she sees Carrie. Then it goes back and it’s her, and she’s like, ‘What?’ I think that’d be kind of great,” she added.

Well, we don’t know about you, but we would LOVE to see a mini crossover with SATC. And now that we know the show is getting a reboot—it seems quite possible!

Admit it, even if you aren’t a fan of the show, you’re a little bit excited. And that’s because most of us can’t help but watch this show—even if you have a love-hate relationship with Emily. The show received a lot of criticism last year for its stereotypical portrayal of French culture and people. And personally, I find the character of Emily tone-deaf and annoying. But is that going to make me skip binging Season 2? Absolutely NOT!

So go ahead and rewatch the old season—you wanna be all caught up when season 2 drops!
